Tragic news continues to come from the front line, where our heroes are defending their native country from the invasion of enemy troops.
In the battles for the Motherland, the famous Ukrainian athlete Andrei Shcherbanivsky died. In 2016, the athlete visited the ATO zone, and in the spring of 2022 he went to a full-scale war. On March 22, the soldier came under enemy mortar fire and received injuries incompatible with life - he left behind a wife and three children.
44-year-old Shcherbanovsky was quite famous in the community of domestic athletes, for ten years organizing marathons and half marathons in Kiev, while he himself participated in the European Championship in mountain running and overcame the marathon in two and a half hours (with a world record of 2:01 hours ), which has been owned by Kenyan Olympic champion Eliud Kipchoge since September 2022).
