Sir Safety Perugia’s coach is Andrea Anastasi, who has been associated with Poland for many years because he has coached either a volleyball team or PlusLiga clubs. The Italian left the country on the Vistula River in 2022, shortly before the expansion of the Polish league. Now the coach honestly appreciated this change.
This season, Andrea Anastasi is coaching Sir Safety Perugia. After 11 years, the coach left Poland and returned to Italy. Recall that in 2011-2013, the coach was the coach of the Polish national volleyball team, and then coached Trefl Gdansk (2014-2019) and Project Warsaw (2019-2022).
Andrea Anastasi: 16 teams in PlusLiga is too many
Despite leaving the country for the Vistula, the Italian still has time to follow the results in the PlusLiga. In an interview with Polsat Sport, the coach admitted that the first seven against Olsztyn are playing really well. However, the manager of Sir Security Perugia admitted that he did not support the expansion of the Polish league.
- However, I think that 16 teams in PlusLiga is too much. I repeated this many times. Was it the right decision to expand the league? In my opinion, no. I think it’s too many matches,” he said.
The former Poland coach admits that he sees a match or two in PlusLiga every day, but can’t figure out what tour it is. “That’s too much,” he said.
Andrea Anastasi: Too many uninteresting meetings
Andrea Anastasi also admitted to being put off by too many encounters. “Honestly, with so many teams, unfortunately, there are too few interesting matches too often,” he said.
- Ask yourself - what game do you want to watch? Probably with the participation of the best teams, for example, Jastrzębski against ZAKSA. On the other hand, you have a ZAX meeting with Radom, which is so-so. On Tuesday I watched the match between Shlepsk and ZAKSA and I must admit that it was not a very interesting sight. I emphasize once again - too many meetings are not interesting, - he concluded.
Sir Safety Perugia Andrei Anastasi will face ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle in the Champions League. The Italians will play their first match away on March 29, 2023. The return match will take place on 6 April.
