ZAXA concert in the Champions League. Last chance for Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie

Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle won the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final play-off against Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie with a score of 3:0. The third set will go down in history.

Volleyball players from Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie and Grupa Azoty ZAKSY Kędzierzyn-Koźle met in the Champions League quarter-final playoff match. The match took place in the Dombrow Gurnic hall. While Tuomas Sammelvuo’s volleyball players know well what it’s like to advance to this stage of the competition, it was a historic opportunity for their opponents to be there for the first time. An excellent match was presented to us by the players of the leading PlusLiga teams.

Volleyball players from Zawiercie scored the first points in the meeting, but their opponents showed their class very quickly. Lukasz Kaczmarek, who scored three of his team’s first four points, did a great job on the ZAKSA side. On the other hand, one of the brightest figures of Warta Zawiercie was David Konarski.

With a score of 6:6, Tuomas Sammelvuo’s men clearly began to dominate. Their opponents got another point only after three defeats in a row, but it did nothing. The fans witnessed several serving errors as well as the aces they scored, among other things. Bartosz Kwolek, David Konarski and Bartosz Bednorz.

With the score 9:13 in favor of ZAKSA, the volleyball players from Zawiercie woke up a bit and made contact. It didn’t help them much as they lost five points in a row right after that. By the end of the first set, we watched a very fierce fight, and with the set-ball for ZAXA, the judges had to use video verification. Thus, Kendzezhin’s team took the lead in the match.

Aluron scared, but ZAXA was stronger

Zawiercie held up very well against the winners of the first set and we saw the fight from both sides. The advantage of ZAKSA began to appear only when the score was 5:6. They led by three points for most of the second set, with one of the most prominent players being David Smith.

Warta Zawierce tried to close the lead in different ways, but the Kendzierzyn team did much better. The advantage grew first to four, and then to five points at 13:18. Coach Zawierce asked for a break, but he didn’t give anything either. ZAKSA played with inspiration until the end of the set. They increased the gap to six points and kept it almost all the time. Finally, the volleyball players went to a break before the third set with the score 19:25 in favor of ZAX.

Zawertse made a brilliant comeback, but it wasn’t enough

The third set was dictated by the hosts of the meeting. The initiative was clearly seized by the volleyball players of Michal Winiarski, but ZAKSA did not lag behind them. Only with the score at 8:7 the hosts increased the lead by four points. Lukas Kaczmarek made two aces in a row, but Kendzierzy’s team couldn’t level the score.

At 18:17, Michal Viniarski asked for time, and only after that did his team lose their advantage. It didn’t take long because in a moment they increased it again by two points. ZAKSA didn’t lose her head and took the lead 20:20, after which she took the lead for the first time in this set. Aluron successfully counterattacked his rivals and took the lead again. After another exchange of blows, the Kendziezhintsy regained their advantage 24:22. Bartosz Bednorc hit the net with the first ball. The next time ZAKSA closed the meeting and won the third set with a score of 25:23.
