Former Zambia footballer Filemon Mulala has died tragically in South Africa. The 60-year-old ex-forward was bitten by his own dogs at his home in Lichtenberg, ESPN reports.
Mulala’s lifeless body was discovered in the garden by his wife. According to the police report, she was on the other side of the house where they lived at the time of the attack. Suddenly, the woman heard the barking of dogs, but since the electricity was cut off, she did not go to check what was the matter.
“The woman was not able to check what was wrong because her house is located on a busy street, and dogs often bark at passing pedestrians and cars. a police spokesman said. “After the electricity was restored, it entered the house, but did not find the man there. Continuing the search, the woman saw a bloody Mulala lying motionless in the garden.
Law enforcement officials said that two of the three killer dogs, which were taken away by representatives of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals shortly after the tragedy, were fighting breeds - a pit bull terrier and a Staffordshire terrier.
Forward Filemon Mulala became a “hero of the nation” in 1984, when he scored two goals against Kenya in the semi-finals of the oldest tournament on the Black Continent, the East and Central Africa Cup (CECAFA), and helped defeat Malawi in the final. Then the Zambians received their first title since the country gained independence in 1964.
Subsequently, the striker moved to the Republic of South Africa, where he first played for the Cape Town Spurs and Dynamo, and then went into business and stayed there to live.
Earlier reported that the author of the historic goal of the Austrian national team died under the wheels of a high-speed train.
