I have worked in the news industry for over 10 years. I have been an author at Daily News Hack for the past 1 year. I mostly cover sports news, but I also have a keen interest in current affairs and politics. In my spare time, I enjoy playing tennis and spending time with my family.

At the third competition of the 71st 4-Hills-Tournament, which took place in Innsbruck, we watched all the Poles. David Kubacki left no illusions to his opponents and confidently won today’s competition. Thanks to this, the 32-year-old player became close to Halvor Egner Granerud!

After a successful qualification for the Poles in Innsbruck, it’s time for the main competition. Recall that they were won by David Kubacki, and Kamil Stoch became the second. Halvor Egner Granerud was the best in the test run, with the World Cup leader right behind him. In today’s competition we saw two Polish fights. Stefan Hula met with David Kubacki, and Jan Habdas met with Kamil Stoch. How did the rest turn out?

TKS in Innsbruck. Granerud is worse than Kubatsky

The first Pole we saw on a log in Innsbruck was Piotr Zyla. In the first series, the 35-year-old athlete jumped 120.5 meters and received not the best marks for style. Most had 17.5. His opponent was Naoki Nakamura. The Japanese were weaker. He landed at a distance of 114.5 meters and lost to the representative of Poland.

After the break for the Zografsky / Johansson pair, it was time for the duel between Danila Vasiliev and Pavel Vonsek. Kazakh flew first, but reached only 110 meters. The 23-year-old Pole jumped much better, because 119.5 meters, which is only 0.5 meters less than the calculated score, and definitely won over his opponent.

David Kubatsky’s opponent in the fight for the Golden Eagle, Halvor Egner Granerud, defeated Francesco Secon by jumping 123.5 meters. A few jumps later he was overtaken by Stefan Kraft, who reached the mark of 129.5 m. Anze Laniszek also raised the bar high. The Slovenian jumped 127 meters and took the lead.

Another beam jumper was Jan Habdas, who didn’t do well in the 71st TCS. The 19-year-old jumped in favorable conditions, but did not take advantage of them a bit, as he landed only 106.5 m and did not go through to the second round. His opponent, Kamil Stoch, jumped brilliantly in the 127m. He was deducted 4.4 points for weather conditions and was 2.5 behind the leaders with Laniski.

The beam was lowered on the last, also Polish pair. Stefan Hula jumped close, only 102 meters, and despite the point compensation for the beam, unfortunately, he did not achieve the result that guaranteed him access to the second series. David Kubacki was definitely better than him. He jumped exactly the same as Stoch and Lanishek, 127m, but beat the Slovenian by 6.7 points and won the first round.

tks. David Kubacki wins the competition in Innsbruck

Pavel Vansek, who was 18th after the first series, jumped much worse. His distance was only 111.5m and he dropped two places despite the big points compensation. After braking, his dissatisfaction with the jump was clearly visible.

Piotr Zyla, to whom the hill of Innsbruck has not yet been favorable, has not improved his distance. The 35-year-old jumped a meter closer than in the first round with 119.5 meters to finish second. Halvor Egner Granerud jumped 133 meters, greatly improving his result and taking the lead.

Kamil Stoch had to jump 129m to overtake the Norwegian, but unfortunately he did not reach his goal. The three-time Golden Eagle winner landed 121m and took third place. Anze Laniszek jumped half a meter further, but also lost to the leader of the 4-Hills-Tournament. David Kubacki only needed 119m, but he reached 121.5m and won today’s event!
