The qualification in Innsbruck brought a lot of great jumps. In the main competition we will see all Poles. David Kubatsky became the winner!
So far, the performance of the Poles at the 71st Four Hills Tournament can be divided into very good and average. The former include jumps by David Kubatsky, Piotr Zyla and Kamil Stoch, while the latter include Pavel Wonska, Jan Habdas and Stefan Hula. Only one Polish representative will be absent from the main competitions on the hill in Innsbruck.
Qualification in Innsbruck. Weak but sufficient jump by Stefan Hoole
The first Pole to appear on the starting line in Innsbruck was Jan Habdas. The 19-year-old did not qualify for the Garmisch-Partenkirchen competition, so he wanted to improve his results at the first Austrian competition. In qualifying, he jumped 110.5 meters and finished sixth. The Pole was very lucky, because he was the last to qualify for the main competitions.
Stefan Hula, who jumped just 106m in training and 101.5m in qualifying, landed on 111.5m. The Pole missed the top ten, but that’s not surprising given his recent form. The oldest representative of Poland has not yet scored points in the 71st Four Hills Tournament. Perhaps the competition in Innsbruck will be different.
Pavel Vonsek took to the starting line in bad weather conditions. The 23-year-old jumped 114 meters but jumped in very good style, got several wind points and jumped to seventh position, which guaranteed qualification to the main competition.
TKS in Innsbruck. Great location of Stoch and Kubacki
Kamil Stoch, who had the most achievements of all the jumpers participating in today’s qualification on the ski jump in Innsbruck, did not disappoint. The three-time winner of the Four-Hills-Tournament jumped 126m to take the lead, less than eight points ahead of Marius Lindvik, who placed second.
Piotr Zhyla, third in the overall standings of the TCS, slept a little while on the right rebound. Although he had not the best weather conditions, he received good marks from the judges. The distance he covered was only 113.5 meters and he finished in 23rd place, the weakest position achieved by Belka in the German-Austrian tournament so far.
David Kubacki still has a chance to beat Halvor Egner Granerud in TCS, but the task will not be easy. In today’s qualification, he left no illusions to his rivals, jumping 128.5 meters and finally winning the competition!
