I have worked in the news industry for over 10 years. I have been an author at Daily News Hack for the past 1 year. I mostly cover sports news, but I also have a keen interest in current affairs and politics. In my spare time, I enjoy playing tennis and spending time with my family.

Grzegorz Krychowiak gave an interview in which he spoke in detail about the bonus scandal in the Polish national team. “Playing for the national team is a matter of honor for us, not a financial goal,” said the defensive midfielder.

The scandal with the award from the government of the Polish national team for leaving the group at the World Cup has recently become the loudest sports topic in our country. After Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki promised a 30 million złoty reward for the Whites and Reds, he finally retracted this promise under pressure from public opinion. However, the players themselves suffered greatly from the media and fans, who rated the behavior of the players as unpleasant. However, Grzegorz Krychowiak claims that he has nothing to reproach himself with.

Grzegorz Krychowiak openly spoke about the bonus scandal in the Polish national team

“We did not bring or create this problem,” he said in an interview with Tomasz Wlodarczyk from matchyki.pl. “We got up from the table and in a small group told each other that this was going to suck, that this was bad and would basically hit us,” he added.

However, the defensive midfielder says he doesn’t understand campaigns against players. Mainly because the issue of bonuses did not arise on their initiative and they did not ask for additional money from the state. Some did not even take seriously the whole situation with the promises of Prime Minister Morawiecki, surprise prevailed. It is reported that the leaders agreed that if the government does give the white-red multi-million dollar prizes, they will donate most of it to charity to get out of the whole situation.

Grzegorz Krychowiak: It’s a matter of honor

The interviewer, however, asked why the topic of dividing the money between the players even came up. “Because for some this is a huge difference,” Krychowiak answered with disarming honesty and recalled that not only the team leaders, but also the staff and other employees of our federation who were with the team in Qatar should have taken advantage of this.

– This award will not change my life, but for others it is a big injection into the family budget. We had no right to refuse money to anyone, even if it was virtual at that time,” Krychowiak explained. He also noted that there were no conflicts in the national team for financial reasons.

“It has never been a problem. Playing in the national team is an honor for us, not a financial goal,” he concluded.
