Kamil Stoch’s start to the season didn’t come true, and the three-time Olympic champion has a problem with equal competition with the leaders. Krzysztof Bigun, who cooperates with the Polish team, spoke about the jumper’s problems with form stabilization.
Kamil Stoch started the 2022/2023 season from 10th place in Wisla, where he took part only in the first competition. After qualifying for the second competition he was disqualified and had a chance to catch up in the Finnish Hand. There, the three-time Olympic champion again scored points, but the 17th and 14th places, respectively, are not the pinnacle of the player’s abilities, who has two Crystal Balls.

Krzysztof Bigun, a former ski jumper and current national team coach, was asked about Stoch’s start of the season. “We know what he is capable of. He will not lay down his arms. It has such a style that it accelerates a little slower. Has minor technical issues. However, that doesn’t change the fact that in previous years he started out worse and finished great. He has time to improve. This is a fighter. He will fight for more wins. he said in an interview with tvpsport.pl.
The leader of the overall standings remains David Kubacki, who, having taken fourth and sixth places in Ruka, has an advantage of only five points over second Stefan Kraft. In Bigan’s assessment, Kubacki “doesn’t stand out from the crowd when he makes good jumps.” According to the former ski jumper, the world champion from Seefeld will be able to stay on top, because although he did not succeed in single jumps in Finland, he showed what he is capable of with successful attempts.
Apart from Kubacki and Stoch, Piotr Zyla also scores regularly at the start of the season. The rest of the white-reds are doing worse, which, however, does not bother Bigan. In his opinion, Polish ski jumping has a “good future”. - Pavel Voshek has the best season of his career behind him. Now he’s off to a good start. Jakub Wolny can also jump. The younger ones from Team B won’t let go either, he reasoned.
