Must read

In Kyiv, in the 78th year, the famous Ukrainian handball coach Leonid Yevtushenko passed away.

A native of the city of Romny, Sumy region, Leonid Makarovich received the high title of Honored Coach of Ukraine in 1987. During his career, he led many Ukrainian women’s teams and national teams. In particular, together with the youth team he became the European champion in 1994 and the silver medalist in 1996, won silver at Euro 2000 with the national team (the only medal for our team in history!), and with the Zaporizhzhya “Motor” won Cup of Cups in 2001. And among his pupils are such well-known names in women’s Ukrainian handball as Marina Vergelyuk, Elena Radchenko, Elena Tsygitsa, Elena Yatsenko and many others.

“I am shocked by this news, two days ago I talked with Leonid Makarovich. He said that he did not feel very well … He was a great person and an excellent specialist. In terms of tactics of psychology, he was a coach from God. I worked with Leonid Makarovich for three years in the national team, I was his assistant, then we worked together at the Brovary School, I remember how he worried, exploded during matches, but during a break in the locker room I could always calm the team, set up the girls, sort out mistakes, find Right words. It worked and we pulled matches. Leonid Makarovich sincerely loved handball”, - Yevtushenko’s colleague in the coaching department shared his memories in an interview with the website of the Handball Federation of Ukraine Alexander Gursky.

Earlier reported that the famous Ukrainian football player Vyacheslav Semyonov, who won the medal of the Olympic Games, died.
