ZUS finances the stay in the sanatorium. However, certain requirements must be met

The resort is located in a resort town. A trip there is aimed at improving health, as well as rest and regeneration of the body. Usually people who are struggling with various diseases or have undergone surgery and need rehabilitation go there. However, the Social Insurance Administration also introduced the possibility of obtaining a free ticket to a health resort. for people receiving sickness and other benefits.

Free trip to the sanatorium under the ZUS program

It is possible to stay in a sanatorium funded by the Institute of Social Insurance. in the framework of the so-called “disability prevention”. Its goal is to restore the health of people who receive public assistance but have the potential to return to full working capacity. However, there should be a chance that the patient will recover it after rehabilitation. The consequences of such a spa treatment should improve the patient’s well-being. The assistance offered by the Social Security Administration is also addressed to people whose illness may threaten their ability to work.

Such rehabilitation lasts 24 days, but the head of the rehabilitation center can extend or shorten it. His expenses are covered by the Social Insurance Institution (accommodation, treatment, meals), which will also reimburse patients for travel expenses to the rehabilitation center and back (in the case of public transport). The sanatoriums that ZUS focuses on are located throughout Poland.

Who can apply for a free ticket to a sanatorium?

The following groups can apply for such a ZUS funded trip:

• working people who are at risk of total or partial disability,

• persons insured by ZUS and working professionally,

• persons receiving sickness benefit or rehabilitation allowance,

• persons receiving a periodic disability pension due to incapacity for work.

Other people may also benefit from such rehabilitation if:

• when checking the sick leave, on which the patient is currently located, the examining doctor finds such a need,

• the person applies for a rehabilitation allowance or a disability pension.

Application for Medical Rehabilitation as part of the CHS for Disability Prevention

In order to be able to benefit from disability prevention rehabilitation, an application must be submitted to any ZUS institution. Such a document must be filled out by the attending physician who knows the course and history of the disease. It is also important to indicate in the application that if ZUS sends such a patient to a sanatorium, his health will improve so that he can return to professional activities. You must bring your treatment records with you to this examination. The application can also be issued by the ZUS attending physician after a preliminary examination or on the basis of the collected documentation. The application must contain:

• name and surname,

• PESEL,

• residential address and phone number,

• medical diagnostics in Polish,

• a conclusion on whether there is a positive prognosis for the recovery of working capacity after rehabilitation,

• medical records of treatment (e.g. hospital treatment information cards, ultrasound, etc.),

• information that it is medical rehabilitation within the framework of the prevention of disability pensions ZUS.

If ZUS accepts the application, the patient will receive a referral with the date and location of rehabilitation. It takes about a month to make such a decision to provide a sanatorium.
