Arcturus is a new variant of SARS-CoV-2 on the horizon

There is also a new variant of SARS-CoV-2 dubbed Arcturus. It is responsible for a new wave of coronavirus infections in India. Isolated cases have also been found in the US, Singapore, UK and Australia.

It spreads faster than the previous mutation, the kraken. Despite this, the World Health Organization is not inciting panic, but is monitoring the situation. Arcturus can prove himself high fever, cough, shortness of breath, conjunctivitis, and sticky eyes. The Telegraph reports that it has also been found in infants.

Little interest in COVID-19 vaccine

On April 15, registration for vaccination with the fifth dose of the COVID-19 vaccine started, over 6.6 thousand people registered over the weekend. 650 patients have already been vaccinated. This is a little over 1 million 700 thousand. people who may benefit from this vaccine.

According to the recommendations, the fifth dose is given to people who have received the fourth dose of a monovalent vaccine, who are over 60 years old, who have immunodeficiency or who work in medical organizations.

Fewer influenza cases reported

Compared to the previous week, the number of influenza cases has decreased by more than 40,000. From April 8 to April 15, 121,274 people fell ill, of which one died. She comes from the Podkarpackie Voivodeship. During this time, 702 people were hospitalized, mostly due to respiratory symptoms.
