Cases of scarlet fever have become more frequent in Transcarpathia - children will be examined in kindergartens and schools, and if the disease is detected, the entire team will be sent to quarantine, as with coronavirus.
This was reported by the Uzhgorod City Council on the Facebook page.
It is noted that since the beginning of 2023, the number of cases of scarlet fever has increased significantly in Uzhgorod. During the period from January to March, 65 children fell ill, of which 32 were schoolchildren and 31 were preschool children. During a meeting of the anti-epidemic commission in Uzhgorod, doctors noted that the stay of children in shelters during alarms contributes to the rapid and uncontrolled spread of the infection.
According to the decision of the anti-epidemic commission, the heads of schools and kindergartens in Uzhgorod must ensure daily examination of the health status of children by medical workers with the recording of data in the relevant journals, as well as the disinfection regime. In addition, they recommended that classrooms with new cases of scarlet fever be sent to distance learning for periods ranging from one week to 21 days.
As you know, scarlet fever is an infectious disease that manifests itself as a rash and sore throat, and can have serious consequences, such as inflammation of the lymph nodes, otitis media, sinusitis, arthritis, myocarditis and others. This disease most often affects children aged 1 to 9 years.
Unfortunately, there is no vaccination against scarlet fever, but after recovery, children develop lifelong immunity to this disease.
Recall that earlier the pediatrician told the readers of FACTS what vaccinations children need and what to do first with an infection.
