In 2023, the highest minimum wage for a doctor by specialization will increase to PLN 9,000. PLN 935 and nurses up to PLN 8,838. The calculations were presented by experts from the Federation of Polish Entrepreneurs (FPP). What will be the minimum wage in other medical professions?

The salaries of doctors, nurses, paramedics, physiotherapists, diagnosticians and support staff will increase from July 2023. The dynamics of wage growth will be 11.2 percent. The amount of the minimum wage for medical workers depends, among other things, on: the average wage in the economy in the previous year.

“As a result, in the case of doctors with a specialization, we can expect an increase of at least PLN 1,000 gross. In the case of employees with a lower level of education, these amounts may be lower, i.e. 800-700 zł. - says Lukasz Kozlowski, chief economist at FPP.

What will be the minimum wage in healthcare in 2023?

According to forecasts by experts from the Federation of Polish Entrepreneurs, the minimum wage grid in 2023 may look like this:

  • doctor or dentist with specialization - PLN 9,935.09;

  • Master of Science in Nursing or Midwifery with specialization, physiotherapist, pharmacist, laboratory diagnostician with specialization, clinical psychologist - PLN 8,838.81;

  • doctor or dentist without specialization – PLN 8,153.63;

  • trainee - PLN 6,509.20;

  • nurse, midwife with secondary education and specialization - PLN 6988.82;

  • paramedic - PLN 5,892.54.

The increase will cost PLN 2.3 billion.

Although the annual average wage in the country in the economy will not be known until February 2023, experts from the Federation of Polish Entrepreneurs have already calculated how much the increased minimum wage could cost. According to their calculations, the total amount that will need to be allocated to cover the costs of indexing the minimum wage from 1 July 2023 will be PLN 2.3 billion.

“Therefore, in monetary terms, the increase will be relatively significant. Our calculations show that the total amount that will have to be spent on the cost of indexing the minimum wage from July 1, 2023 will be PLN 2.3 billion, i.e. more than half of the total increase in health care spending next year. “, - lists the economist.
