Breast, lung and ovarian cancer patients and their families can find information on where to get treated and what treatment options are available at centrumkryzysowe.org.pl. This is the first place where you can get this kind of information. Specialists and patients took part in the creation of the portal.
What symptoms may indicate cancer? What tests should be ordered by a primary care physician, which specialist should I contact? How to choose the best clinic for treatment? What treatments are available, how can I make sure I’m getting the right diagnosis and getting the right treatment? What tests should be done before starting treatment? Such questions are asked by everyone who suspects cancer or has already heard about such a diagnosis.
Where to diagnose, where to treat? Check on the site centrumkryzysowe.org.pl
Very often, patients and their loved ones had to look for answers themselves, where to diagnose, where to treat. They searched for information on this topic from doctors, in patient associations, on the Internet, in Facebook groups.
Now the Crisis Center will help them with this. At the moment, the portal centrumkryzysowe.org.pl contains information about breast cancer, lung cancer and ovarian cancer, but more types of cancer are currently being developed.
- Cancer is another word that causes horror, paralysis, a sense of defeat, fear for life. There are many questions in the head of the patient and relatives, but it is not always known where to get answers to them. The Internet comes to the rescue, and, as you know, you can find a lot of content there that does not always correspond to modern medical knowledge. That is why the Polish Association of the Social Movement “Amazon” has created the Crisis Center: an internet platform full of reliable knowledge that will be easily accessible to patients and their families and will guide them through every stage of the illness,” says President Elzbieta Kozik. Association of Social Movement of Polish Amazons.
Crisis center created by experts and patients
Both specialists and patients participate in the creation of the Crisis Center. Questions related to lung cancer were developed by MD Katarzyna Stenzel, Deputy Head of the Department of Clinical Oncology with the Department of Daily Chemotherapy at the Wielkopolska Center for Pulmonology and Thoracic Surgery. Eugenia and Janusz Zeiland in Poznan. Questions related to breast cancer were developed by Dr. Katarzyna Voda from the Department of Breast Cancer and Reconstructive Surgery of the National Institute of Oncology. Dr. hub has been working on information about the treatment of ovarian cancer. Dr. med. Hanna Czorzewska-Korba, Head of the Rehabilitation Department of the National Institute of Oncology Maria Skłodowska-Curie, National Research Institute in Warsaw and Dr. Katarzyna Jalynik from NIO-PIB. The Polish Association of the Social Movement of the Amazons has done a great job on the portal.
The information on the portal is taken care of by the scientific council centrumkryzysowe.org.pl, which includes, for example, prof. Maciej Krzakowski, national consultant in the field of clinical oncology, prof. Dariusz M. Kowalski, prof. Tadeusz Orlowski, prof. Mariusz Bidzinsky, prof. Zbigniew Nowecki, prof. Tadeusz Penkowski, prof. Włodzimierz Sawicki, prof. Maria Litvinyuk, prof. Pavel Knapp, prof. Anita Chudecka-Glaz, prof. John Horostovsky-Vinimko.
In addition to medical information, the portal also contains important practical information for patients, such as psychological and social care. On January 16, 2023, a hotline will be launched that will provide additional support to patients and their relatives, and the next step will be to gradually replenish the knowledge base.
This is even more work than a cancer hospital.
“As PARS, we had different plans. We dreamed of creating a House for Cancer Patients, and then an all-Russian volunteer activity for cancer patients. Those plans didn’t work, but I’m glad the Crisis Center was created because it can be a very important place for patients and their families. The House for Cancer Patients will be only for a small group of the local population, while the Crisis Center will be for the whole of Poland: for patients, for their families, for everyone who wants to help. This is the biggest achievement, says Elzbieta Kozik.
Navigation through the portal is simple and will not cause difficulties for patients and their relatives. – The architecture of the portal is designed in such a way that everyone can easily find the information they are interested in. We hired IT specialists to make the portal as simple as possible. If someone has problems reading on a computer screen, they can turn on the speech function, says Elzbieta Kozik. - We also monitor the relevance of the information on the portal, we will update it on an ongoing basis, - adds Elzbieta Kozik.
