Germany ahead of Great Britain

Spain consistently opens the table of monkeypox infections with 5162 cases. However, the second place has changed. WHO gives new names to monkeypox varieties

Experts from the World Health Organization have come to the conclusion that it is necessary to distinguish between different variants of monkeypox. Proposals to resolve this issue varied, but it was ultimately decided to name the former Congo Basin (Central African) clade the first (I) clade and the former West African clade the second (II) clade. In addition, it was decided that clade II consists of two subclades.

The new naming convention for Sympox thus includes clade I (clade I), clade IIa (clade IIa), and clade IIb (clade IIb), the latter primarily referring to a group of variants that are largely circulating during a global epidemic. in 2022.
