In this case, it is not surprising that doctors recommend that pregnant women drink plenty of water. During pregnancy, the mass of organs in a woman’s body increases and there is a significant increase in blood volume. The daily fluid requirement increases by about 300 ml during pregnancy and ranges from 2 to 2.5 liters per day, doctors point out.

By drinking enough water during pregnancy, you can reduce discomfort such as painful leg cramps, constant fatigue and headaches, which are very common during this time. Drinking water has also been found to prevent:

  • urolithiasis disease,

  • urinary tract infection

  • concentration disorder,

  • vomit

  • nausea

  • dry skin.

Water is also essential for the absorption of nutrients and vitamins.

Flavored water is a good choice

An alternative to still water is homemade flavored water. Just add some fresh mint and your favorite fruit to a jug, and ordinary liquid will change its taste and encourage you to reach for the next glass more often.

Avoid untested tap water!

If a pregnant woman decides to drink tap water, she must remember that this is tested water. In older, unfinished buildings, tap water may run through pipes contaminated with lead or iron. Drinking lead-contaminated water has also been found to cause premature birth, low birth weight, and even developmental delay.
