If VAKS assigns a bail of UAH 300 million to the Chairman of the National Association of Defense Industry Enterprises of Ukraine, External Deputy Sergei Pashinsky in the case of the so-called theft of petroleum products, these funds will be withdrawn from defense industry enterprises instead of manufacturing the scarce shells and weapons that the Armed Forces of Ukraine need today. This will significantly harm the country in countering the anger of Russia.
This was stated by his lawyer at a meeting of the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court on February 26 regarding the measure of restraint and the amount of bail for the ex-People’s Deputy. Evgeny Grushovets.
“If there were more people like Pashinsky in 2022, I think the situation with repelling Russian aggression would be better… Pashinsky is now the head of the National Association of Defense Industry Enterprises. At a time when Ukraine is remembered only in the context of what it only needs and consumes, the Association is doing everything so that the whole world knows about national manufacturers of military products… The amount of the bail that the court will determine (we do not know in what amount ), will be paid by the members of the Association, but we all must understand that these are funds that should have gone to victory, but for some reason they will be frozen and go to the Treasury account of the court”– he emphasized.
In addition, the lawyer, taking into account the ex-People’s Deputy’s services to Ukraine in countering the Russian Federation, appealed to the Supreme Court with a request to choose a policy of a mild measure of restraint without arrest and bail.
“Your Honor, I ask you not to apply excessive bail to Pashinsky, since these funds will go away from the enterprises of the military-industrial complex. I would like these funds to be used for development, for some things that will then be transferred to the guys at the front to defend our country. Considering that he will not hide from this matter. I would ask that a personal obligation be applied to him. Pashinsky’s word in this case has the greatest value, it is definitely more valuable than money, it is so valuable that he does not need to be put behind bars. Therefore, I ask the prosecutor to refuse to use such a preventive measure as detention,” – said Evgeniy Grushovets.

Pashinsky was declared a suspect as part of a criminal proceeding registered many years ago. He is accused of taking oil products worth 967 million hryvnia, arrested in the case of the owner of the so-called East European Fuel and Energy Company (SEPEC) group of companies.
