Russian invaders launched an offensive in the Lugansk region. This is reported by analysts at the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
In particular, they point out that enemy movement has been noticed northwest of Svatovoe, and “maximum aggravation” is observed in the Kremensky direction due to attempts by Russian troops to break through the defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Parts of several divisions were involved in the offensive.
“Subdivisions of several regiments of the 144th and 3rd motorized rifle divisions (20th combined arms army, ZVO) and a regiment of the 90th tank division, supported by units of the 76th airborne division and unidentified units of the Southern Military District, are conducting offensive operations”- noted in the report.
Based on these data, the experts came to the conclusion that this situation is the beginning of a new Russian offensive. At the same time, the Ukrainian defenders do not allow the invaders to seize the initiative in the Luhansk region, which could lead to a final climax in the direction of Svatovo-Kremennaya even before the complete capture of the Lugansk and Donetsk regions by Russian troops.
“This climax will give Ukrainian forces a window of opportunity to use in their own counteroffensive,” summed up the analysts.

Key takeaways from ISW:
Russian troops continued offensive operations northwest of Svatovoe and intensified offensive operations near Kremennaya;
the occupiers carried out limited ground attacks in the Avdiivka-Donetsk area and in the west of the Donetsk region;
Russian and Ukrainian troops continue small-scale skirmishes and reconnaissance activities in the Dnieper Delta and Kinburn Spit;
The Wagner PPK is resorting to more coercive tactics in its prisoner recruitment campaign, perhaps in response to the campaign’s declining effectiveness.
It is also reported that the command of the so-called “People’s Militia of the DPR” took control of a Russian artillery battalion, likely to support efforts aimed at strengthening the degraded forces of the DPR before the Russian offensive. It may also indicate that the Russian military command may be continuing its efforts to integrate the “DPR” and “LPR” special forces into the Russian armed forces, but is likely to face significant difficulties.
Recall that according to the forecasts of Ukrainian intelligence officers, the Russian invaders will go on the offensive in the Donetsk, Luhansk and Zaporozhye regions. In turn, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov noted that a new offensive by Russian troops could begin in Kharkiv or Zaporozhye regions.
