Inflation in Poland, which received the most refugees from Ukraine, was 15.5 percent in July 2022. However, this record can still be broken, because, as experts emphasize, the instability and uncertainty of the world economy has a very strong impact on the situation in Poland. In the CEIC report “Global Inflation Expectations and Targeting: The Sky is the Limit”, among the countries listed, only Turkey and Russia are projected to have higher inflation than Poland in the near future.
“More than half of Poles say their financial situation has worsened compared to last year (data from Santander Consumer Bank), and this indicator is confirmed by the latest GUS data showing a decline in real wages to a level not seen since 1995, local media report. - Meanwhile, it looks like the worst could be ahead, as according to the Global Inflation Expectations and Targeting: The Sky is the Limit report, only Turkey and Russia are expected to have higher inflation than Poland in 2022 and 2023 among the countries analyzed. According to CEIC experts from the ISI Emerging Markets Group, the economies of Mexico, Brazil and India will cope with the current economic challenges better than we do.”
In 2023, inflation in Poland, according to the forecast of the International Monetary Fund, will be about 8 percent, and in the Eurozone countries - a little more than 2 percent. In Turkey and Russia it will be about 12 and 30 percent respectively.
Earlier it was reported that during the first three months of the war, the Russian economy lost what it had achieved in four years.
