Representative of LTG Cargo Mantas Dubauskas said that from July 22, the Lithuanian Railway resumed the transit of goods included in the sanctions list of the European Union to the Kaliningrad region of the Russian Federation.

He spoke about this on the air of the Lithuanian national radio and television LRT, according to DW.

“We got clarifications,” he explained. The European Commission provided them on July 20: the transit of sanctioned goods by rail is allowed, while road transport remains prohibited.

It is noted that the European Commission has published additional guidelines for EU member states on the transit of goods from Russia, where it allowed the movement of certain sanctioned goods to the Kaliningrad region by rail.

Member States can control the volume of transit based on the average of the past three years, as well as limit “unusual flows of goods or patterns of trade.”

The transit of sanctioned military and dual-use goods and technologies is completely prohibited in any case, regardless of the mode of transport.

In addition, Member States must ensure that sanctioned goods in transit do not enter the EU. The European Commission emphasizes that they will be held liable in case of circumvention of sanctions.

Earlier, EU ambassadors agreed on the seventh package of sanctions against Russia.

Recall that the European Union is trying to agree on the seventh package of sanctions against Russia by the end of July.

In addition, Ukraine has submitted proposals to the European Union on the seventh package of sanctions against Russia and insists on the early adoption of new restrictions.

As you know, the leaders of the G7 countries at the summit in Germany approved new sanctions against Russia. In the United States, inflation in Russia is predicted to grow by more than 20%.

Recall that the EU has introduced the sixth package of sanctions against the Russian Federation, which provides for the prohibition of Russian oil and the disconnection from SWIFT.

At the same time, some EU leaders are in no hurry to talk about the seventh package of sanctions, calling the goal of imposing a gas embargo even harder. In particular, the Belgian authorities called on the European Union to pause the imposition of sanctions against the Russian Federation.

By the way, Russian enterprises of the military-industrial complex no longer have imported components for the repair and maintenance of aircraft of the An, Il, and Tu series.
