As we prepare for the long-awaited live performance One piece it’s safe to say that fans will be keeping a close eye on the manga and anime easter eggs throughout all eight episodes. And the performance will be full of them, like a production designer. Richard Bridgeland told Collider Mike Thomas in an interview.

During the interview, Bridgeland singled out a place whose elements are sure to stun fans: Kaya’s unforgettably huge mansion (Celeste Loot). The production designer also said that the team “really got down to business” when they came up with this particular set and “put in those little details” that you’ll have to look over and freeze a few times to find.

“We did a lot of things there, where obviously we had snail phones that our wonderful creature department built, but in the hallway, I created a hallway that was completely covered in Trompel style murals. The idea was that this was a place where there was an exhibition hall where people came when they wanted to buy a ship, and they had a lot of ships that they had built earlier for other pirates and characters painted on the walls. so you can see which ships you can order. When you enter the kitchen, each jar of food has its own unique label, which is related to things from the world of One Piece. I can’t even remember, there were so many, but we never had a standard food label, beverage label, or anything like that. So it all came down to such detailed details.”

Attention to detail seems to be the rule of thumb in One piece Live performance series

While the number of references and Easter eggs is fun to post, Bridgland also points out that there is an important aspect to this level of attention to detail. According to him, “All these details not only make the world feel very One piecebut also made the actors feel completely immersed in the world.”

As far as we know at the moment, Netflix has brought One piece to life in every possible way, with life-size ships like the Going Merry and Baratie built in Cape Town, and the desire to make it all as real as possible in its own fantasy setting. The icing on the cake was, of course, Eiichiro OdaParticipation as an executive producer: The creator of the franchise approved everything that we see on the screen during the eight episodes of the series.

Netflix premieres One piece this Thursday, August 31st. You can watch the latest trailer below:
