The Doctor is missing from Disney+. After airing two seasons and receiving critical acclaim on the streamer, Dugi Kamealoha, MD was canceled five months after the conclusion of the series’ second season. Starring Peyton Elizabeth Lee as the titled Lahela “Dougie” Kamealoha, the series was created as a gender-swapped reboot of the classic film. Dougie Houser, MD headed by Neil Patrick Harris.
IN Dugi Kamealoha, MD, a sixteen-year-old medical prodigy, as a typical teenager in Hawaii, balanced between family life and friends, while also continuing her growing career as a doctor. Her parents do their best to guide her, but the relationship becomes more complicated given that her boss is also her mother. Due to her incredible talents, despite her age, Kamealoha was dubbed “Dougie” by friends in connection with the show directed by Harris. In Season 2, Dougie faces a young romance as she is caught in a love triangle between her first love Walter (Alex Aiono) and the new bad guy in her life, Niko (Milo Manheim).
Lee shared the spotlight on the series with Kathleen Rose Perkins And Jason Scott Lee who played her parents while Emma Meisel played her best friend Steph and Matt Sato And Wes Tian played her brothers Kai and Brian. In a previous interview with Collider’s Christina Radishshe talked about how to make the charming family series resonate with both new and original audiences. “Our goal was for people who watched the original to be able to recognize some familiar things,” she said. “I’ve always loved the way Vinnie gets through Dougie’s window, so it was important for me to keep that aspect. But we wanted people who had never watched it to be able to just sit back and relax and watch it.”
