Horror Dolores Roach are going to open up. Based on the successful Spotify podcast of the same name, the Prime Video series seems rather sinister yet exciting. The series sees Justina Machado starring an ex-con who is pushed to the extreme when her newfound stability is threatened. The streamer recently released a short video introducing the series and Dolores.
In a creepy new clip, we see a paper bag with “We serve the community” written on it, soon we see blood dripping from the bottom of the bag, leading us to the introduction of Dolores washing the blood off her hands and saying, “I’m not a bad person.”
What Horror Dolores Roach ABOUT?
The series tells the story of Dolores, who is released from prison after a 16-year unjust sentence and goes to the gentrified Washington Heights. She reunites with old drug addict friend Louis (Alejandro Hernandez), which gives her shelter and allows her to send messages for cash in the basement of her Empanada Loca store. But when her stability is threatened, she takes a page from the Demon Barber’s book, which leads to terrible events.
The previously released images paint an eerie picture that fits the streamer’s description that the series is a “modern tale, inspired by Sweeney Todd, about to eat or be eaten.” The series is definitely not for the faint of heart as it touches on themes of deceit, survival and cannibalism. It remains to be seen if it will capture the audience’s attention in the same way that the podcast did.
Actors of the upcoming series Kita Updike, C. Todd Freeman, Ilan Eskenazi, Jessica Pimentel, Jimmy Alvarez, Maureen Cassidy, Alanna Bale, and much more. Eight part series written Aaron Markwho also directed, wrote and created an original podcast and play Empanada Loca. He is also co-showrunner and executive producer along with Dara Reznik. The series is produced by Blumhouse.
