If CE Bros Not after this last episode Jesse ArmstrongX succession, then the Waystar Royco may already be dead in the water. Roman (Kieran Culkin) put up a pretty solid smokescreen there for a while, deceiving just about everyone around him, including the audience, that he was capable of running one of the most iconic companies in the world. Despite this, it only took about a minute at his father’s funeral alone to ruin the whole act, as Roman completely lost it due to Logan’s death (Brian Cox) in front of everyone, including potential president-elect Jerid Menken (Justin Kirk).

Kendall (Jeremy Strong) finally got his moment as a knight in shining armor in this funeral scene, delivering an incredible eulogy to Logan on the fly in an attempt to save not only Roman’s nervous breakdown, but his father’s reputation after Uncle Yuen (James Cromwell) decided to publicly tear apart his own brother. At this point, Kendall proved to everyone that he had always been capable of piloting the Waystar ship alone and walked off the stage looking more like a leader than he ever had in his life. In the end, when it came to fighting, Kendall pushed.

Roman seemed to have changed in this fourth season. succession, taking the bull by the horns and making tough decisions on Waystar’s behalf as the new co-CEO alongside Kendall. In reality, though, it was the shock of Logan’s death that sent Roman into a constant state of fight or flight: he wanted everything back to normal again—and quickly. To make this happen, he avoided the emotional impact that his father’s death had on him and instead focused his energy on becomes his father.

The answers to all of Roman’s questions were found in the “what would dad do” trail, and because of this, he ended up making irrational business decisions because he thought that Logan would handle some situations the same way. The only problem was that no one ever knew What will be Logan’s next move - even his own children. In addition, Roman was No the new Logan Roy, as much as he would like to believe that this opinion was true.

The more Roman refused to respond to the emotional impact of his father’s death, the more illogical his decisions became. In many cases, he didn’t even act as a co-CEO, but became Waystar’s dictator, leaving Kendall to clean up his messes and try to justify his decisions. He fired Waystar studio head Joy Palmer.Annabeth Gish), as well as longtime Waystar bigwig Jerry (J. Smith-Cameron), in fits of rage justifying these decisions, again, under the guise of a father. But, ultimately, what really broke the camel’s back was Roman’s premature call for Mencken’s ATN election.

While Kendall tried to justify firing Roman and other decisions, also trying to convince himself that their father would have made the same decision, things changed when it came to the presidential election. In a very honest conversation between him and Shiv (Sarah Snook), they discussed what could potentially be the implication of Menken’s nomination, as well as Kendall’s place in it all. “Sometimes I felt like I could do it,” says Kendall. “You know, like, I have to do this. Me. Just me. But I don’t want this to be the end of the family relationship, right? Maybe I would like to be able to speak openly about this feeling.”

And the thing is, since this election happens right before Logan’s death, there was never a detailed discussion of what the right move should be for Waystar. When minds are clouded by intense shock, it’s hard to see clearly at this point, and when it was discussed whether Kendall’s name was underlined or crossed out in Logan’s document, a compromise had to be made. Because the decision was made so quickly, no one had time to honestly discuss whether adding Roman as co-CEO was the right thing to do.

Moving on to Logan’s funeral, it now seems clearer than ever that the co-CEO’s decision was not properly thought through, as Waystar’s entire future hinges on Roman’s hasty campaign pleas. While Roman lets his emotions get the better of him in times of great stress, Kendall remains cool and collected, and his eulogy proved it to everyone, including Roman. Roman realizes at this point that it’s only a matter of time before his brother becomes the sole CEO, and after the meal after Logan’s funeral, his decision to step out into the crowd of protesters is another sign that Roman is incapable of doing so. No affects his emotions.

Looking back at the first season successionit’s crazy to think that someone But Kendall was supposed to be the CEO of Waystar, but at the time it seemed too easy. When something seems too good to be true, it makes us question its veracity, which is what happened to Kendall. With each episode, Kendall’s instability became more and more apparent, which eventually led us all to believe that he was never really capable of running Waystar, which was a personal victory for all of us who initially doubted his abilities.

But sometimes our inner instincts turn out to be right, and after this penultimate episode successionTurns out we’ve been choosing our CEO all along. While we still have a whole 90-minute series finale to see what ultimately happens with this decision, it’s unlikely that Roman will remain as co-CEO, especially if he finds himself trampled by this decision. crowd of protesters in a provocative act.
