In 2014, an animated sitcom was introduced to Netflix viewers. BoJack Horseman. No one expected it to cement its reputation as one of the smartest, most mature, and most complex dramedy ever to hit the screens, but this show soon proved to be just that.
Characters BoJack Horseman layered, corrupted and too human (even those that aren’t human at all). They do the right thing as often as they do the wrong thing, resulting in characters who are easily liked just as often as those who are despicable. However, despite their ups and downs, one thing is for sure: it’s rare for the genre to come across such wonderful characters.
10 Beatrice Horseman
In a series with characters as complex as BoJack HorsemanIt’s hard to call someone a villain. But if you absolutely had to define one character as the show’s antagonist, the easiest choice would be Beatrice (Wendy Malik), BoJack’s troubled and abusive mother.
Beatrice’s tragic backstory is one of the saddest parts of the entire show, but it hardly justifies her consistently cruel and degrading behavior towards her son and everyone else in her life. Incapable of love and empathy due to her abusive childhood, she became an adult, abusive to those around her, and gave BoJack nothing but punishment and apathy.
9 BoJack Horseman
The show’s protagonist is also one of the most well-written characters on any animated show. BoJack (voiced by Will Arnett), a seedy actor desperate to resurrect his career and give his life some semblance of meaning, delivers one of the best representations of mental health issues on television.
Fans are often put in the shoes of those who love BoJack: they get stuck in a circle of joy and relief as they see him try to grow as a person, but then are inevitably disappointed when he reverts back to his toxic habits. At some point in the show, it becomes too hard to give BoJack another chance at redemption.
8 Princess Caroline
BoJack’s regular agent and ex-girlfriend, Princess Carolyn (Amy Sedaris) has an interesting dynamic with all the main characters of the show. Ambitious and hardworking, she is ready to go to great lengths to achieve her goals.
PC is often one of the show’s most attractive and likable characters, a persistent career woman with a head full of dreams. However, sometimes she can also be one of the most reprehensible people in the series. An adventuress and constant source of Hollywoo’s toxic environment that the show criticizes, she makes it difficult to support many of her activities.
7 Diane Nguyen
Yin to yang BoJack, DianeAlison Brie) is arguably the second most important character in the series, which she constantly makes clear with her practical, stubborn, and idealistic personality and actions.
By far the wisest and smartest of the show’s main ensemble, Diane tends to be everyone’s voice of reason and moral compass, and her loyalty to those she cares about makes her very endearing. However, she is just as lost as BoJack, which sometimes leads her down paths that are destructive to herself and others.
6 Sara Lynn
Sarah Lynn, the subject of one of the saddest moments in sitcom history, was one of the kids who starred alongside BoJack on his hit show. horseshin around. In no small part because of him, she became an unstable young woman with problems and addictions.
To put it mildly, Sarah Lynn has to deal with many challenges. For some, her personality may be unsavory and her actions may be too venomous to ignore. In the end, though, it’s impossible not to empathize with her, a victim of a system that has been robbed of her childhood.
5 Mr. Peanut Butter
His playful nature may be too much for BoJack, but fans of the show really love Mr. Peanutbutter. A cheerful but not particularly talented actor who previously starred in a rival sitcom. horseshin aroundhe is nothing but positive and good mood.
Mr. Peanutbutter is loving, friendly, and loyal to a fault. He’s the kind of friend you want to have around when you need to cheer him up, and his wacky jokes never fail to please. BoJack Horseman the fans laugh. However, he has much more. His habit of dating much younger women ends up being unsettling, and his inability to take anything seriously often makes him a far worse friend and partner than he might seem.
4 Favorite Actress Margot Martindale
Many real people appear in BoJack Horsemanbut no one has such a bright and cheerful role as that of a beloved character actress. Margot Martindaleone of the series’ funniest recurring supporting characters.
Beloved actress Margot Martindale is violent and easily irritated, capable of doing everything from murder to armed robbery without a shred of remorse. It doesn’t seem like a particularly likable character, but it combines a surprisingly solid arc and some of the show’s most hilarious scenes (which make it one of the best dark comedies to ever hit TV) and you have a character that is always a treat. see on the screen.
3 hollyhock
Don’t let the terribly long name scare you: Hollyhock Manheim-Manheim-Guerrero-Robinson-Silberschlag-Hsung-Fonzerelli-McQuack is one of BoJack Riderthe cutest and kindest characters. Once introduced, she becomes one of the most important parts of BoJack’s life.
Hollyhock is young, innocent and in need of guidance in life. Unfortunately for her, BoJack isn’t always in the best position to offer it, but she’s too smart and her heart is too big for her to fall for the consequences of his toxicity. The fate of these two’s relationship is heartbreaking, but in the end, one can’t help but feel good for her.
2 Judah Mannowdog
Princess Caroline’s assistant, Judah Mannodog, may seem too stoic and purely professional to be a particularly likable character, but his surprisingly sweet personality and love of PC has slowly made him one of the series’ most beloved characters.
Anyone and everyone could really deal with someone as reliable and helpful as Judah in their lives, something he often proves in just about every amazing scene he’s in. However, it also has a lot more depth, providing some PC scenes that are among the show’s most touching.
1 Todd Chavez
One look at Todd’s face is enough to understand why he is arguably the cutest character on the show. Friendly, energetic, and the most creative guy you’ll ever meet, he’s the kind of person who can make laziness an attractive trait.
Todd is the purest and kindest person in this story. He is the most loyal of friends, but he knows when someone is not right for him; he is a sweet bum, but incredibly successful and resourceful; he constantly gets stuck in silly shenanigans but finds the funniest ways to get out of them. Many of BoJack HorsemanThe characters aren’t always easy to like, but Todd definitely is.
