Finally, Freeform is ready to present us with another cruel summer as the show’s second season premiere date has just been announced. While it was previously reported that the show would return in the summer, Freeform has kept its promise by revealing that the long-awaited second season will begin airing on June 5th.
It’s been a long wait for fans who have been craving another round of the show’s compelling mystery since the curtain on season one dropped almost two years ago. The second season of the anthology show will retain the unique formula of its debut season, using three timelines and two perspectives to explore central teen friendships. While the intrigue of the first season played out in a ’90s timeline, the second season of the anthology series will move to Y2K and be “set in an idyllic coastal town in the Pacific Northwest.” The official synopsis teases that season 2 “will follow the rise and fall of an intense teenage friendship,” adding that “the season intertwines as it tracks the early friendship between Megan, Isabella and Megan’s best friend Luke, a love triangle that blossomed, and a secret that will affect the rest of their lives.” Obviously, the themes of friendship, jealousy, abuse and betrayal will once again take center stage.
The first season was a hit that eventually garnered significant attention as more viewers caught on to its thrill. Due to the increased interest in the series, it was deservedly removed for the second season. The first season followed Kate Wallis (Olivia Holt) and Janette Turner (Chiara Aurelia) and the drama that unfolded after the kidnapping of the latter. The show received top marks for dynamic writing and shines with a 94% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Fans will hope the two-year absence doesn’t rob the show of its unique charm.

Paul Adelstein And Breden De La Garza will appear in recurring roles.
