Marvel made a big push when it came out Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Instead of focusing on well-known MCU characters or a giant from comic book canon, the studio has added a new character to further diversify the roster of on-screen heroes. With multiple crossovers, a strong story that felt fresh for a massive film franchise, and a great cast. Sim Liu, AquafinaAnd Michelle Yeoh, it was an absolute success, its biggest box office debut on Labor Day weekend at the time. Director Destin Daniel Cretton is set to return and helm a sequel at some point, with Liu returning to theaters with One true loveown collider Christina Radish asked the star about the stresses of playing Shang-Chi again.

Although there are high hopes for Shang-Chi 2 after the critical acclaim received by the action movie, Liu finds that the stress of introducing a new character and world, while still under an MCU-sized budget, is much greater. “Typically, you feel the most pressure when something is not proven,” he said. “The stakes are really high. I remember directing the first film and thinking, “Okay, we’re basically creating this character every single day.” The stakes couldn’t be higher because it was a $100 billion film budget. I feel that these are the circumstances in which the pressure will be the highest.” As the character has already proven himself to be one of the most exciting MCU heroes in recent memory, Liu is most eager to return, adding:

“The transition to the sequel feels exciting. This does not necessarily mean that there is pressure to be met or pressure to be surpassed. we spent so much time thinking and thinking. And then we will return to some things, but also show the viewer new things. We’ll deliver all the amazing acting we were known for in the first movie, but also hopefully explore new sides of Sean’s character and the characters around him. That is, of course, if we can still afford Michelle Yeoh. She is on top of the world and just the queen of everything.”

As Liu points out, one of his colleagues could get a pay rise if they return. “That is, of course, if we can still afford Michelle Yeoh. She’s on top of the world and just the queen of everything.” Yeoh earned praise as Ying Nan, the guardian of the mythical dimension Ta Luo, but the seasoned actress shot into the stratosphere with All Everywhere All At Once which earned her the Academy Award for Best Actress. She’s not the only one shang chi however, alum has been busy as Aquafina is about to appear in Nicolas Cage And Nicholas Hoult-vel Renfield in April.

Liu calms down Shang-Chi 2 Movies

For his part, Liu is not entirely shang chi 2 same mode. In addition to One true lovehe also has Simulator, Great Death LottoAnd Greta GerwigX Barbie among other projects ahead of him in the near future. When asked if he knew when he started filming the Marvel sequel and if he was preparing for the film, he said:

No. I hope I’m not flaunting myself by saying that I definitely won’t stay at Marvel training camp forever. I have always been kind to myself, eating good food and keeping my body nice and warm. You keep your mileage low until you absolutely have to drive it for more miles. This is the philosophy of thought to which I belong.
