It’s been a sad couple of weeks at the Kent house since the show’s third season. Superman and Lois revealed that Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch) was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of breast cancer. The devastating news clearly has a profound effect on the entire family, including the children of the titular duo. During a recent interview with Entertainment Weeklyactor who played Jonathan Kent Michael Bishopspoke about how carefully they approached the turn, taking into account the real feelings of the people around them, who see that their life has changed due to illness:

“It’s hard for them (the Kent family). My mom in real life was diagnosed with breast cancer about five years ago, and the way Jonathan handles finding his mom’s breast cancer is very similar to how I handled it all. situation. It was strange to go through this season because I thought a lot about my life and how much it affected me. It was a strange parallel to see how John reacted to the whole situation, how I reacted and how similar those reactions really are. were.”

An iteration of Superman that airs on The CW definitely different from the other Men of Steel that have been on screen through the years. IN Superman and Lois, the show focuses on the relationship between the couple, shedding light on how they function as a marriage and how they juggle their jobs while trying to save Metropolis at the same time. This also includes learning how they work together to raise their two children, Jonathan and Jordan, named after Clark’s fathers. Family dynamics are rarely considered when it comes to Superman stories, which ensures this TV series stands out.

On top of Clark having a family, these characters always have a kind of invincibility around them, given how they all bond with a man who can fly around the world in minutes and stop bullets with his chest. The serious diagnosis as part of Lois’ future was tragic and shocking as her body becomes a source of damage. What can flying into space or moving buildings do to cure a seriously ill person? The rest of the season will focus on how the family adjusts to their new life, which will hopefully lead to a happy life for the Kryptonian home.

Preparing for Lois Lane’s Plot Twist

It’s not just about the story of Superman, but also about the adventures of superheroes. In a media landscape full of capes and hips, the theme of an ongoing illness that has struck the main character or someone close to him is not very common. Elizabeth Tulloch, an actress for Lois herself, recently opened up about how she was looking for her role in new episodes of the series. Superman and Lois: “(Joanna Kearns) introduced me to women who have either experienced inflammatory breast cancer or also very aggressively survived late-term breast cancer, and it was amazing. 10 or 11 different women.”
