The recent bat-themed film history of everyone’s favorite vigilante has been chaotic, to say the least. After a phenomenal and almost unique buzz Christopher NolanX The Dark Knight trilogy, whoever donned the Batsuit after Christian Bale had to be under a lot of pressure. It sounded true with the DCEU version of Bruce Wayne played by Ben Affleck. Despite the initial backlash, Affleck was generally a solid Batman in terms of his acting, but his ultra-violent version, shown in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) and Justice League (2017) touched many fans. As DC’s first attempt at a connected cinematic universe was confusing and controversial, it became clear that the next Batman needed a clean slate. Luckily we got it Matt ReevesX Batman (2022), which features a brutal and gritty version of Gotham City, complete with one of the darkest stories ever seen in Batman movie.

Critics and fans alike have praised The Dark Knight’s neo-noir detective story for its great visuals and audio, gripping and intuitive action sequences, and some incredible performances from Robert Pattison, Colin FarrellAnd Paul Dano. Thus Matt Reeves’ Batverse was born in spectacular fashion, with plans for various sequels and spin-offs. However, there were concerns that amid the ongoing shake-ups of Warner Bros and DC, which led to shocking moves such as canceling Bat Girl, Batverse will be another victim. Those fears were allayed on January 31, 2023, when DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn not only announced the upcoming DC content roster, but also made it clear that Matt Reeves’ vision for Batman would remain intact. Now the storyline “Other Worlds” is officially called Batman - Part 2 (2025) is still in development, and the same goes for the various spin-offs that were announced shortly after the first film’s release. This is fantastic news for fans of the first film, but we now have two years to wait for Robert Pattinson to return as Bruce Wayne.

It’s safe to say that Robert Pattinson’s return as the titular hero is all but confirmed. Batman - Part 2officially guaranteeing that the star Lighthouse (2019) will remain the Caped Crusader version of this film, despite a new Batman appearing in the main DCU. Other characters such as Jim Gordon (Geoffrey Wright), Alfred Pennyworth (Andy Serkis), Catwoman (Zoe Kravitz), The Penguin (Colin Farrell), The Riddler (Paul Dano) and more have yet to be confirmed to return, but at least some of them should return in the sequel.

Will there be Batman Part 3?

It was confirmed that Batman - Part 2 is the middle of a planned trilogy, which means we can expect at least one more movie to wrap up the current story. It makes sense that James Gunn and Peter Safran would like to end the Reeves series to avoid confusion and duplication with the main DCU, but it remains to be seen if Part 3 will be the end of this version of Batman or just the end of a certain arc. With so many spin-off shows and movies planned, it’s possible that Reeves has plans to continue this universe beyond the main planned trilogy. Do we know anything about the plot of Batman. Part 2″?

Not much, but the “Part II” in the sequel’s title gives some hints of what to expect. The main subtitle shows that it will be in some ways a more direct continuation of the Batman story from the last movie. It may not sound concrete, but Bruce Wayne was at the very beginning of an existential crisis when he learned about the dark past of his parents and that they were indirectly responsible for the death of a journalist. Now that his idea of his ideal parents was shattered, he decided that Gotham’s criminals couldn’t just be afraid of Batman; he should also be a symbol for the citizens of Gotham. We’re also likely to see some of the aftermath of the Riddler’s scheme from the first movie, which left Gotham under water and caused widespread destruction throughout the city.

Who will be the villain in Batman. Part 2″?

Batman easily boasts the best rogue gallery of any hero in comic book history, and we only got a feel for it in the first movie. IN Batmanwe saw our hero face off against the hysterical Penguin (Colin Farrell), outsmart the anxious Riddler (Paul Dano) and even tease his worst enemy of all, the Joker a little ((Barry Keoghan). All of these iconic foes survived their encounters with the Bat and could very easily return to cause trouble in the sequel, but Matt Reeves also teased that some other villains will be joining his Batverse. Back in October 2022, it was reported that Reeves was also working on spin-offs focusing on other villains such as the terrifying Scarecrow, the psychotic Professor Pig, and the shapeshifting Clayface. It’s more than possible that we could see them appear in Part II or one of the already announced spin-off shows.

We also have some teasers for Batman’s other two main foes. Batman. One brief battle takes place in the final battle of the first film when Batman injects himself with a mysterious green liquid that acts as a stimulant to get him back into the fight. This could very well be a nod to one of Batman’s strongest enemies, Bane, who is known to use the green liquid drug Venom to increase his strength and “Break the Bat”. The second teaser is a bit more egregious. When Bruce watches the exposé video of the Riddler at the orphanage, we see a big fat four-letter word on the screen: “Hush.” Hush is also the name of a classic Batman villain who has yet to make his feature film debut. Born Thomas Elliot in the comics, the bandaged villain was once a friend of Bruce Wayne but his opposite in personality, wanting to kill his parents rather than adore them like Wayne did. Not to mention, Hash has a historical connection to the Riddler in the comics, and the Riddler’s victims in the movie bear a resemblance to Hash’s iconic design. The real clue comes when we learn the name of the journalist who died because of Bruce’s parents, whose last name turns out to be Elliot.

Honestly, one or any of these villains could be the next main antagonist for Batman franchise. Perhaps we might even see some completely different wildcards, like the now-vacant DA filled by Two-Face, or see a cold-hearted scientist come to town and become Mr. Freeze. Besides, and it’s a long way, Nicolas Cage expressed interest in playing the villain Egghead. Anyone want a bald Nic Cage with egg-themed gadgets?
