Barry Allen (English)Grant Gustin) the story will come to an end with the upcoming ninth and final season Flash. In conversation with TVLine showrunner Eric Wallace teased what would be in the last 13 episodes of the show. One storyline that Wallace is focused on completing is the relationship between Barry and Iris West-Allen.Candice Patton). When the series started, Barry and Iris were best friends and Barry kept his feelings for her a secret. During the show’s run, they started dating and later got married during the show’s fourth season. They even met their future daughter Nora West Allen (Jessica Parker Kennedy) and Bart Allen (Jordan Fisher).

In the past few seasons, the couple have spent time apart due to Iris being trapped in the Mirrorverse or due to her chronic illness. “We had them on their separate travels for [Seasons] 6, 7 and 8 because we needed to create their characters,” Wallace said. “We needed to level up the Flash as a superhero and Iris to level up emotionally as a journalist. This ball did drop in seasons 2 to 5 or so. But now that we’ve done that, let’s align them like pair.”

Wallace also spoke to fans about his goal for the final season. “My mission is to reward the audience with the things I know they’ve been asking for and looking forward to; I cross things off my own wish list as a fan - same with writers’ wish lists; and ending on a really positive note,” Wallace said. “I just wanted us to be as emotionally strong as we could and then finally have just a few surprises, a few old faces coming back here and there.” Some of the old faces returning to the series include Keinan Lonsdale as Kid Flash/Wally West, Sendhil Ramamurthy as Bloodwork/Ramsey Rosso and Jessica Parker Kennedy as XS/Nora West-Allen. Final season Flash will also wrap up the Arrowverse and introduce characters from other shows. Both Stephen Amell (Green Arrow/Oliver Queen) and David Ramsey (Spartan/John Diggle) from Arrow will appear in the final season. BatwomanX Javisia Leslie And Super GirlX Nicole Maines will also appear in the final season.

Final season Flash will also pay homage to the show’s first season. “You’re going to see a lot of references to the first season, and a lot of things that were never resolved are now resolved,” Wallace said. “It’s all about ending the series on a very high, emotional note.” The character from the first season who will return will be Rick Cosnett like Eddie Thawne. Eddie was Iris’ boyfriend in the first season of the series, and also the ancestor of the villain Reverse-Flash/Eobard Thawne (Tom Kavanagh And Matt Letcher). At the end of the first season, Eddie sacrificed himself to stop Eobard. Letcher will also return for the final season. While this character was mostly played by Kavanagh, Letcher is who the villain actually looks like. In the first season, it was revealed that Eobard Thawne killed the real Harrison Wells (also played by Kavanagh) and impersonated him for years. Like Wells, Eobard Thawne was the one who trained Barry to be a superhero during the first season. Wallace also spoke about what he hopes fans will take away from the series finale. “Increasing the romance between Barry and Iris and then throwing in all these good things creates a series finale where people really say, ‘Hey, that was good. It will stay with me in a positive way and really honor the show’s legacy,” Wallace said.
