As if lightning from heaven wasn’t enough Chris Hemsworth cemented his title as an action hero with a 2020 epic Mining. The Hollywood megastar best known for his role as Thor attracted a staggering 99 million families with the film’s biggest premiere in Netflix history. Hemsworth won hearts with his role as secret mercenary Tyler Rake, the man tasked with saving Ovi Mahajan.Rudraksh Jaiswal), kidnapped son of a crime boss. Now it looks like he’s getting ready to do it again with Extract 2 on the cards and is scheduled for release this year. Ahead of the film’s release, eager viewers were teased with footage of Hemsworth in full swing as his action double.

COLLIDER VIDEO OF THE DAY

The image shows Hemsworth in full combat gear as he casts a deadly warning glare at enemies standing in front of him. While they brandish their weapons, he confidently holds his hands up, clearly ready for battle. Clearly in the midst of another high-octane operation, he stands fearlessly in what appears to be a rundown prison while a woman with blond hair (Tinatin Dalakishvili) is desperately trying to pull him out of the fight. Unfortunately, the details of how or why Tyler found himself in this situation, not disclosed. That being said, it’s clear the film won’t be shy about action, and it’s clear that there are new stakes on the hero mercenary cards.

Although it’s not surprising Extract 2 received a sequel against the backdrop of the success of its predecessor, it was certainly unexpected in terms of plot. This is largely due to the fact that the audience apparently witnessed Tyler getting shot at the end of the first film while doing his best to protect Ovi. Beyond the frame, Netflix has kept Extract 2The storyline is very secret. In fact, the only aspect that has been confirmed for certain is that Tyler is indeed alive. A teaser trailer released last year briefly depicts moments after Tyler’s death that seem to have seen him being shot in the neck before falling into the ocean. He then cuts to a shot of a fallen soldier sitting at the bottom of the ocean, with Ovi’s voice repeating, “Tyler, you won’t drown by falling into the river, but by staying in it.” Tyler appears to be turning on his gear as he suddenly wakes up and swims to the surface, with the “#RakeLives” hashtag flashing on the screen for additional confirmation.

Despite Mining applause, the sequel should take a different path, according to the film’s screenwriter and Avengers: Endgame director Joe Russo. “This is very different from The Extraction 1, which we love,” the film giant told Collider earlier. “In that regard, this is a separate film. It has a different color scheme. The action takes place in another part of the world. It has a different pace, a different tone than the first.” He went on to tease that the film is more “surprising and unexpected” than its former release, so there’s a lot to look forward to.

Extract 2 it is expected to land sometime in 2023. Stay tuned for updates on Collider. You can watch the teaser trailer for the movie below.
