There have been so many amazing TV seasons on Netflix this year. However, in a fairy tale as old as time, quality doesn’t guarantee an update from this picky streamer. There have been more than a few great shows this year that have gotten a terrible axe, and far too many of them have never been given a chance to succeed. The last example of this warrior nun, as the popular comic adaptation was canceled on Netflix after two seasons.
The news came through Warrior Nushowrunner N Simon Barry. He wrote on his Twitter page: “I just found out that Netflix will not renew warrior nun - my sincere gratitude to all the fans who have worked so hard to bring attention to this series and for the love you have shown me, the cast and the whole crew. It was a privilege for me to be a part of it.” This heartfelt post is sure to stir up emotion among many fans, as it was they, not Netflix, who helped grow a loving fan base and appreciate this amazing action movie. In his two seasons, warrior nun was the definition of awesome. The series is based on the graphic novel Warrior Nun Areala on Ben Dunn and followed a young woman named Ava after she was resurrected by the Order of the Cross Sword, which was a group of demon hunters who fought alongside the “Warrior Nun”. Ava became the new Halo wearer and warrior nun in training after returning from the dead. It sounds ridiculous at first glance, but it had everything you could want in a show. It had impressive action sequences, a rich character-driven story, brilliant direction, a perfect cast, and a fascinating religious-infused mythology brought to perfection. The second season in particular was truly epic as the warrior nun battled the evil Adriel and his army.

Whether it’s the blossoming romance between Ava and Beatrice, Lilith’s sinister twist in season two, or an in-depth exploration of both the worst and the best of organized religion, this show was one of a kind. Even if it’s discouraging that Netflix has canceled warrior nun, they will never take away two seasons of one of the best TV movies. That is, unless they decide to abandon HBO Max, but the less they think about it, the better.
Barry has been the champion of this series since it aired in 2020 and it was great to see his love for warrior nun as well as his passionate fans during this period of time. Luckily, Season 2 didn’t end with a huge cliffhanger like Season 1 did, and most of the story wrapped up beautifully, but it’s hard not to think about what would have happened if Netflix had pulled out. warrior nun even half the marketing budget of such hits as Wednesday.
