News broke yesterday that caused a storm in Hollywood after it was revealed that the new D.C. co-executives James Gunn as well as Peter Safran reportedly turned off a number of projects in the works, including the previously announced Wonder Woman 3which was to be staged and written Patty Jenkins.
Gunn himself wrote on Twitter. yesterday, confirming some things, refuting some things, and mentioning half-truths about the rest. Amidst much speculation and gossip, Deadline is reporting a potential twist in the story of Diana Prince and her failed future forays. Although The Hollywood Reporter’s original report said that Gunn and Safran turned down the project after being unimpressed with Jenkins’ latest treatment of the film, Deadline opposed it from a new perspective.
According to their sources, it was Jenkins who decided to turn her back on the people of Themyscira due to her dissatisfaction with the studio notes she received after the last storyline was filed. Her treatment is believed to have had what has been described as “character arc issues that rivaled those of Wonder Woman 1984″. The report adds that Warner Bros. motion picture Michael De Luca as well as Pam Abdi there were concerns about treatment before Safran and Gunn took their positions. When the new group provided the notes, she was given the opportunity to work on it further and declined by leaving.
The time is not optimal for the project and especially for its star. Gal Gadot, who picked the timing, to say the least, when she tweeted two days before the news about her excitement about bringing fans “the final chapter in Diana’s story.” However, despite the pandemic-related drop in box office 1984the character is still extremely popular, especially with female viewers, and is certainly worth exploring further, even if Gadot can no longer work with Jenkins.
In addition, Deadline reports that Henry Cavill is now in limbo. Filming episodic roles for Black Adam as well as Flash, as well as committing to announcing his return as Superman via Instagram on October 24th, it turns out he doesn’t have a real movie to appear in. The same group that refused Wonder Woman 3 didn’t like the presentation Man of Steel producer Charles Roven and therefore never gave the green light to the project.
Speaking of Black Adam, Dwayne JohnsonThe PR machine was on the warpath, and some strategically placed media outlets dedicated to showcasing the film apparently made a profit of around $50 million despite what is described as “false media reporting”. Despite this, no sequels have been greenlit and no news has been forthcoming. The film’s box office has plummeted since its release. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. However, it is believed that Warners is keen to keep both Johnson and Gadot on board to one degree or another.
All in all, a quiet week in Hollywood. DC and WB want to see how Flashwhich will open on June 16 next year, and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (December 25) will be done before making a final decision. However, it is safe to say that whatever decision is made, it will not make everyone happy.
