As part of its post-Christmas offer, Netflix will be releasing a limited spy-themed series titled Treason starring Daredevil actor, Charlie Cox. In preparation for the series’ release, the streamer released the official trailer for the series. comes from the writer spy bridgethe trailer shows the deceit, lies, and betrayal that come with participating in the world of espionage.
The trailer begins with a grim announcement: “Thirty-six hours ago an attempt was made to assassinate the chief of MI6.” After an attempt on the chief’s life, his deputy meanwhile rises through the ranks to replace him. Step forward Adam Lawrence Cox is a young man and father, inexperienced - but the job must be done. It becomes clear that the plot to eliminate the chief is part of a larger, nefarious thought process, with the politician apparently being blackmailed into pulling out of the race. “These are uncertain times,” Adam’s boss warns, hinting at the doubts many in the agency will have about his competence. But he also gives firm advice: “Trust no one.”
Soon enough, the cases of Adam Lawrence Cox begin to spiral. First the CIA believes he has been compromised, and then a former Russian from his past, Kara (Olga Kurilenko) is back – is everything as it seems? Apparently, Kara pulled the strings that made Adam successful, and now she’s here to take it. Everything begins to come to a head when his family is threatened by unknown forces, his wife does not believe in his innocence, and now Adam is accused of betraying his country. “I am not a double agent,” he says.
Treason created by writer Matt Charman, who also serves as an executive producer on the series. The series is directed by Louise Hooper (Sandman, The Witcher) beside Sarah O’Gorman. Together with Charman in the pool of executive producers Foz Allan as well as Valery Ryan. Along with Cox and Kurylenko, Treason also boasts an impressive cast that includes Una Chaplin (Game of Thrones)Ciarán Hinds (Justice League Zack Snyder), as well as Tracey Ifichor (Originals).
