Saturday night life came back last night with Keke Palmer as a host and SZA as her musical guest and the episode was as great as you’d expect. Mainly because Palmer is contagious with her cheerful personality. And her monologue was, unsurprisingly, hilarious. Palmer is known for having fun on her social media as well as being an absolutely incredible performer, and the entire episode was filled with highlighting what works so well in Palmer’s performance.

In her monologue, she talked about the film that made her famous, Akila and the beewhich also featured Laurence Fishburne and Palmer talked about how he yelled at her and enjoyed his life in the spotlight. But it was also part of her big statement that she made in her monologue.

COLLIDER VIDEO OF THE DAY

Palmer said many of the comments on her social media asked if she was pregnant or not and what was going on in her life, and she said she only reads them to talk about herself. Saturday night life monologue that she is, in fact, pregnant! Unbuttoning her jacket to show her belly, she smiled as she told everyone about her pregnancy and talked a little about how happy she was to be a mother.

It was sweet to see how Palmer reacted to viewers who might have been shocked by her pregnancy by saying that she was 29 years old and had sex, even if many still consider her a young girl from Akila and the bee. But seeing how happy Palmer was to announce her pregnancy set a very hilarious and exciting tone that carried through the entire episode.

Her pregnancy played little role in the episode where she was pregnant in the sketches or just included it in the way she said her lines, but for Palmer it was just a really nice way to announce her pregnancy and also hit her hosting gig with a bang.

So Palmer did what she did best throughout the episode and was successful on all fronts. Nobody expected the series to be bad because we all know how good she is at what she does. But her pregnancy announcement was shocking and I’m so happy for Palmer and the exciting new journey she’s embarking on. And if she wants to come master Saturday night life again? We would all love it.
