Vibranium is the most sought after metal in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Its unique ability to absorb, store, and release kinetic energy—sometimes with devastating effects—made it something like the new gold. It also meant that when we got to know Wakanda, the only vibranium country in 2018, Black Panther, this made the kingdom the most powerful nation in the surface world. However, in continuation Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, we learn that Wakanda is not the only nation to possess vibranium. The undersea kingdom of Talokan, ruled by Kuk’ulkan, also known as Namor (Tenoch Huerta Mejia) also had such deposits in stock. The undersea realm was shown in all its oceanic beauty, and to bring it to life, Marvel did a very thorough job.

Talokan is the ruling city of the underwater kingdom. Namor rules from here, and in the sequel we get a trip to the city when the Submariner decides to take Princess Shuri (Letitia Wright) on a tour of sorts. What awaited both Shuri and the spectators was a deep sea metropolis that was a stunning sight. According to SlashFilm, the beauty that Shuri and others enjoyed was brought to life with a 200-page production bible with details on Talokan. While the city only received limited screen time during the sequel, the guide covered many parts of Talokan’s life.

According to Weta VFX Supervisor Chris White, every detail, including those that are a little insignificant, has been taken into account in the revitalization of the city. Here is the full quote:

“Talokan is a huge, huge city, and there are several cities around it too. [T]it was my first Marvel project, but when we first started Talokan had a production bible and it was 200 pages full of their history, their tools they built, their architecture, influences, how they traveled through Central America. .

It’s amazing how extensive this story was that they created. It might take about four minutes or so but they put so much thought into it even when we first joined them. Like everything else, the culture is very broad.”
