It’s been nineteen years since The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King and eight years ago The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. Now after all this time J. R. R. Tolkien fans finally have a chance to go back to the history of Middle-earth, to the time before the Rings of Power. JD Payne and Patrick McKay developed an upcoming, groundbreaking series The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power. Set in the Second Age of Middle-earth, thousands of years before the adventures of Bilbo Baggins, it follows a host of characters as a powerful dark force begins to enter the earth.

The elves return with a young warrior Galadriel (Morfydd Clark), young Elrond striving to succeed in politicsRobert Aramayo), High King of the Elves Gil-galad (Benjamin Walker)and wood elf Arondir (Ismael Cruz Cordova). The legendary island Kingdom of Men, Numenor, appears, and its regent queen Miriel (Cynthia Addai-Robinson). Prosperous dwarven kingdom Khazad-dum (aka Moria) features prominently in the series as the dwarves form a positive relationship with the elves. King Durin IIIPeter Mullan) rules Khazad-dûm in this era.

Spectators will meet with the smith of the Ring of Power and the elven smith Celebrimbor (Charles Edwards), Numenorean Pharazon (Tristan Gravel), Healer Bronwyn (Nazanin Boniadi), and the ancestors of the hobbits were the Harfoots. While the actor remains a mystery, the creation of the Ring of Power could not have happened without guidance. Dark Lord Sauron, who was known in the Second Age as Annatar.
