Of the more than 100 original Disney Channel movies that have aired on Disney Channel since the early 80s, only one movie franchise has reminded fans over the years that they’re all in this together.
Debuting in 2006, High School Music School swept the world with a trilogy of films, a Sharpay-themed spin-off, and later a Disney+ series. But as beloved and iconic as HSM series, it’s also not immune to the bugs and continuity bugs that make you wish the creators were immersed in the game.
What team? Rather, what number? (“High School Musical”)
Troy Bolton, team captain, dummy basketball player. As a star player of both High School Music School and the basketball team, the Troy’s Wildcats jersey number is very important in East High. That is if it can be consistent.
While Troy is usually seen wearing the number 14 jersey, in some scenes the character’s jersey has the number 10. The same happened to Chad, whose number was usually 8, but was seen wearing the number 15 on some occasions.
Lots of Zeke chairs (‘High School Musical 2’)
Zeke was one of those minor characters from HSM who rose to protagonist status in the sequel, being a lovable Wildcat who not-so-secretly loved the stove. Summer classic School Musical 2 begins in the last minutes of the last day of school, when Zeke, for unknown reasons, was sitting on a small stool in what looked like a stupid cap next to Mrs. Darbus.
But when the scene cuts to another shot, Zeke is still sitting in the fool’s cap, but no longer on a much taller stool. It is unknown if this was due to a possibly deleted scene from the movie or if it’s just a continuity issue, but the whole script is confusing nonetheless.
Troy’s ever-changing boxers (“High School Musical 2”, “High School Musical 3”)
Troy just can’t keep a pair of boxers. AT XSM2, the class starts singing and dancing during “What Time Is It?” Troy’s white boxers are visible behind his slip-on jeans. But just seconds later, when he high-fives a classmate, Troy’s boxers turn black.
Something similar happened in School Musical 3 when Troy and Chad are looking for a radiator cap, Troy’s gray boxers can be seen. But by the next shot, Troy had apparently quickly changed into black boxers.
Sharpay’s microphone (“High School Musical 2”)
As the queen of the drama club and host of almost every East High musical, it’s not unusual to see a Sharpay with a microphone.
But in school musical 2, her microphone is too prominent. When the “Fabulous” number starts, keen fans may notice Ashley Tisdale microphone in the reflection of her large pink sunglasses.
Troy Quick Change Shoes (‘High School Musical’)
Troy Bolton had a very simple style when he wasn’t wearing his basketball jersey. Jeans paired with cute polo shirts or raglan t-shirts usually made up Wildcat’s wardrobe, and his shoes usually never stood out.
That was until they moved from one scene to another. When Troy is talking to classmates while waiting for the bell to ring in class, he is wearing black sneakers with white stripes. But once he sneaks out to go to the music auditions in the next scene, his shoes are now white with black stripes.
Troy’s Paint Job (High School Musical 3′)
Memorable, romantic number “I just want to be with you” from HSM3 begins with a flirtatious piano playing between Kelsey and Ryan and turns into an epic pop ballad between high school musical stars Troy and Gabriella.
As they rehearse the song while the others paint the scenery in typical Troy fashion, Wildcat clambers over the wet scenery, staining his hands with green paint. When he finally jumps up to where Gabriella is and chases after her with his painted hands, he grabs the white railing first and miraculously doesn’t leave a speck of paint on it.
Ryan and Chad’s clothes swap (High School Musical 2)
It was every shipper’s dream of Ryan and Chad when they met in a song and dance battle on a baseball field in XCM2. Performing “I Don’t Dance”, each of them proves that he can easily put himself in the place of the other and in his clothes.
After the number and the gang sit at the picnic tables and have lunch, Ryan and Chad stand next to each other, now dressed in each other’s clothes - Chad in Ryan’s white suit and striped hat, and Ryan in Chad’s red jersey and matching Eastern cap. schools.
Troy Breaks Free (“High School Musical”)
This was typical of the first High School Music School for Troy to start the songs - “The Start of Something New”, “Getcha Head In The Game”, and “We’re All In This Together”. But there was one song that Troy was originally not supposed to start.
When super couple Troy and Gabriella are about to perform “Breaking Free” for their callbacks, Gabriella is just about to start the song when she freezes. After a little pep talk from Troy, he signals Kelsey to turn the music back on and then sings the song’s first known line, despite it being Gabriella’s line originally.
Sharpay’s teleportation (“High School Musical”)
Sharpay Evans showcases many talents in three films: acting, singing, dancing, intrigue and even teleportation.
During “Stick To The Status Quo”, when Sharpay and Ryan watch the song flash from above, Sharpay ends up walking down a large flight of stairs to where Gabriella is walking with her lunch. But when the camera cuts to the next scene, Sharpay is still upstairs with Ryan and then returns to the stairs in the next scene.
Gabriella takes a bath (“High School Musical 2”)
After Shar-Pei’s “Fabulous” performance at the Lava Springs pool, Sharp-Pei inevitably falls into it and is only saved by her nemesis and new lifeguard Gabriella.
Although the scene shows Gabriella diving in to rescue Sharpay, in the scene just before Sharpay falls into the pool, you can see Gabriella already in the pool waiting for her.
