Fifty-six years ago, the pilot episode “The Man Trap” debuted on a very special series, and the sci-fi genre - and fandom in general - has never been the same. In honor of the milestone event on September 8, 1966, Paramount+ unveiled an impressive list of exclusive content and global events that Trekkies can enjoy during their third annual event. Star Trek Day next month. Gene Roddenberrythe pivotal series introduced viewers to a world that championed diversity, inclusion, acceptance, and hope, and Paramount+ is committed to preserving that spirit while paying tribute to the franchise, its fans, and the people who made it special.
Starting at 3:00 pm ET on September 8, fans can tune in to a live stream of the celebration that will share live events taking place at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles with the world. This will include private conversations with each other featuring some of our favorite Star Trek series, exciting announcements and revelations - which is interesting considering how much we learned at SDCC last month. But that’s not all that happens during Star Trek Day! Paramount+ also revealed that there will be in-person events in key cities around the world including Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, London, Melbourne and Sao Paulo.
Paramount+ will also use Star Trek Day to pay tribute Nichelle Nicholswho tragically died last month. In addition to being the woman who gave the world Uhuru Nyota and paved the way for better screen representation, Nichols had a storied career in NASA and the Civil Rights Movement. Her impact and influence will be remembered in a tribute video as part of a special day. Paramount+ will also run the #StarTrekUnitedGives campaign, in which the studio will donate $1 for every person who uses the hashtag on Twitter during Star Trek Day. Donations will be divided equally between charities that do real work to protect diversity, justice and innovation in honor of Nichelle Nichols.

Tompkins and co-hosts Star Trek: Capsule Directivewhen they interact with the famous actors of the franchise.
