The MCU is growing at an unprecedented rate as Disney+ works hard to release more Marvel original content. Ms. Marvel just recently ended showing a lot of universes that fans can sink their teeth into. But as was made clear at San Diego Comic-Con last week, Marvel is looking ahead and up after they detailed what’s coming in phases five and six. But there’s one more new show yet to show on Disney+ before Marvel completes phase four, and it looks like one of their most unique stories yet.
She-Hulk Attorney at Law Coming to Disney+ on August 17, it looks like another fresh direction for the MCU. Superhero antics meet procedural drama in a series best described as Ellie McBeal meets The incredible Hulk. The show sets the stage for a battle different from what we’re used to seeing in the MCU, with courtroom legal drama seemingly coming to the fore. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen an overpowered lawyer (more on that later). But She-Hulk should provide another world-building adventure for MCU fans tuning in to Disney+ offerings.
As usual from the new part of the MCU, She-Hulk brings with it an impressive cast full of faces both new and familiar. Most of the other Disney+ shows this year, like Ms. Marvel as well as moon knight leaned heavily towards creating new characters rather than characters that fans would recognize from the films. But She-Hulk Disney+ seems to be strengthening ties to the grand universe, and some returning faces are sure to thrill longtime viewers.
Here’s everything you need to know about the cast of the next MCU show on Disney+: She-Hulk Attorney at Law.
Tatiana Maslany as Jennifer Walters / She-Hulk
The composition of the MCU has changed a lot with the advent of Tatiana Maslany like Jennifer Walters, aka She-Hulk. Maslany has slowly made a name for herself in the television world, starring in recent shows such as Perry Mason, House of the Harpersas well as Black orphan. But she also spent years playing small comedic roles in films. Drunk History as well as Parks and recreation areas. This summary points to a wide range from an actress who should feel right at home in the MCU.
Maslany described the character as “the opposite of most superhero stories”. Not only is she a lone lawyer trying to get through life, but she is also Bruce Banner’s cousin. Her comic book origin is due to her being exposed to Bruce’s blood from an emergency blood transfusion and gaining some of the big green guy’s powers herself, but the MCU took liberties with that origin when Jen inherited her powers after being in a car accident. with Bruce. who infects her with his blood. The show revolves around Walters’ legal practice, where she represents cutting edge people in their legal troubles. Based on the recent trailer, she seems to have much more control over her transformation than Bruce did in his first adventures. There is no doubt that She-Hulk will become a major player in the MCU in the future.
Jameela Jameel as Titania
Jamila Jamil is the next newcomer from the villainous side of the MCU. She is best known for her role as Tahani in A good placefavorite comedy series Michael Schur. Otherwise, she mostly voices roles and acts as a host on various reality or game shows. She-Hulk looks like a huge step outside of her comfort zone. The MCU is a great home for her trademark humor, but it remains to be seen how well she’ll do as a villain. Titania is closely associated with comics. She was first introduced in the original Secret Wars and went on to become She-Hulk’s nemesis. It’s unknown what new directions Marvel might take with the character, but Jamil will be an important part of the story.
Ginger Gonzaga as Nikki Ramos
Also join the cast She-Hulk is Ginger Gonzaga as Walters’ best friend, Nikki Ramos. Gonzaga is a comedian and actress with many small film and television roles on her resume. She-Hulk could prove to be something of a big break for the actor if Ramos grows into a significant role. Not much is known about the character before the show’s premiere. There’s no obvious connection to anyone from the comics, but it’s clear from the trailer that Ramos will be the emotional anchor for Walters in her superhero court battles.
Renee Elise Goldsberry as Mallory Book
She-Hulk adds this heavyweight from the world of Broadway to an impressive cast. Rene Elise Goldsberry created the role of Angelica Schuyler in the popular musical Hamilton. She received a Tony Award for her performance in the original production and was also nominated for an Emmy Award for her live recording, which aired on Disney+. But she also starred in many film and television roles during her 20-year career. AT She-Hulk she plays Mallory Book, one of Walters’ colleagues who helps out with her cases. It’s funny that one of the first roles of Goldsberry constantly appeared in the series. She-Hulk predecessor, Ellie McBeal.
Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Smart Hulk:
In true Marvel style, She-Hulk is also filled with familiar faces from across the MCU. At the top of the list is the original big green villain himself, Bruce Banner, also known as the Hulk. Mark Ruffalo returns to his signature role for the ninth time (including bit parts). The trailer shows him in his Smart Hulk form from Avengers: Endgamebut the last time we saw him, he appeared in shang chi post-credits scene in his human form. He clearly plays the role of a mentor as She-Hulk learns to use her powers, but it’s impossible to tell how deep his role will actually be. I hope we learn more about what Banner has been up to since The final. Ruffalo is also a three-time Oscar nominee and a well-known actor in the world outside of the MCU.
Tim Roth as Emil Blonsky/Abomination:
In one of the longest hiatuses since their first appearance, Tim Roth reprising his role as Emil Blonsky from the 2008 film. The incredible Hulk. This is a 14-year break between performances. The abomination briefly appeared in shang chi, and Roth had an uncredited voice role in a cameo. But this is the first full appearance of his character. Blonsky is still locked up, but Walters takes him on as a client. Blonsky appears to be fighting for his freedom, and he turns to an unexpected ally in his rival’s superpowered cousin. Roth’s reputation as an actor is no doubt impressive. So it’s a huge coup for Marvel to finally get him back into the ranks.
Benedict Wong as Wong
The Wong dynasty continues from Benedict Wongseventh appearance as the current Sorcerer Supreme Wong. We last saw him working with Doctor Strange against the Scarlet Witch in Doctor Strange in Multiverse of Madness, but Wong has slowly become one of the most beloved characters in the entire MCU. It’s unclear how much he will play in the story. She-Hulk. Although Wong appeared in shang chi works alongside the Abomination in an underground Chinese fight club. It’s likely we’ll see more about how the two characters became connected. But either way, fans expect more from Wong.
Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock / Daredevil
This is perhaps the most teasing appearance in the series. Charlie Cox returns as Matt Murdock aka Daredevil. His addition to the cast came as a surprise when a trailer was shown at San Diego Comic-Con last week. How exactly he plays into the story is still unknown, but it is said to be “significantly”. There’s a super-powerful new lawyer in town, and She-Hulk begins her practice. They can team up in the courtroom in addition to fighting the bad guys. Cox certainly spent three seasons as Daredevil on his own hit Netflix series, but his place in the MCU canon was always in doubt until he made a cameo appearance on the show. Spiderman: No Way Home. In addition, it was confirmed at Comic-Con that he would be returning for his new show on Disney+. Daredevil: Reborn, which will be fully implemented in the MCU. Daredevil fans certainly have a lot to look forward to in the future.
