Eve in The Darkest Universe (2016)

After working together in black pond (2011) darkest universe sees Di Martino reunite with BAFTA-nominated directors again Tom Kingsley as well as Will Sharp in this dark comedy-drama. The film follows the life of Zack (Sharpe) who, upon learning that her sister Alice (Tiani Ghosh) went missing with her boyfriend Toby (Joe Thomas), is desperately trying to do whatever it takes to find her, which leads to the fading of some of her relationships, including with his partner Eva (Di Martino). Eve supports Zack in looking for Alice, but she eventually gets tired of the pressure and how Zack pushes her away.

Although she is not the main character, Di Martino manages to captivate the audience with her heartbreaking performance of Eve, who clearly feels lost, unloved and guilty. What made him work harder was the incredible direction, script, and devastating chemistry between Zach and Eva. All these elements create an amazing, enchanting atmosphere throughout the film.

Amy Flowers in Flowers (2016-2018)

Bye Loki Considered her most recognizable role, some people were first introduced to her role as Amy Flowers on the British sitcom Flowers. The show is about the dynamic and dysfunctional Flowers family, consisting of a depressed father and writer Maurice (Julian Barratt), wife and teacher Deborah (Olivia Colman) and their twins Donald (Daniel Rigby) and Amy (Di Martino). Amy is a depressed artist trying to figure out what she’s meant to do in this world, even though it’s hard for her.

Amy’s storyline becomes more prominent towards the second season as she slowly spirals into a desperately ambitious musical and performance piece. Amy eventually becomes the heart of the show, and in addition to being praised by the writers for how they approached the character of Amy, Di Martino also received credit for the way she brought Amy to life with the utmost compassion and vulnerability. No wonder why Flowers this is her breakthrough role.

Carol in Yesterday (2019)

Carol only really appears in the first half of the film as part of Jack’s group of friends, pushing him to sing songs. Even though it’s just a minor role, Di Martino blends seamlessly with an incredible cast to make for a wonderful and fun group. Di Martino is a supporting character in this critically acclaimed film, but her performance lends impressive emotional weight to the film’s conclusion, especially after learning about the sibling dynamic.
