IFC Films has released a new poster for its upcoming neo-western thriller. God’s Countrystarring Tandive Newton in a tense battle of desires and values.
The upcoming film is based on a 2015 short story. winter light from famous author James Lee Burke, and sees Newton play Sandra Guidry, a grieving professor who moves to a snowy rural college town in the American West. One day, she discovers that a red truck belonging to two hunters is parked in front of her house. When she tells the duo to leave, she becomes the target of a series of threats from the town’s residents. Without any form of law enforcement to turn to, she enters into an “escalating battle of wills” in which her values will be tested.
In a brand new poster for the upcoming movie, Netwon is firmly at the center of the image. Behind her is the translucent ghost of her antagonistic master hunter named Samuel, played by Jefferson Whitelooking down at her, holding a hunting rifle in her hands. The film debuted at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival back in January and was praised for Newton’s performance and tense storytelling.
God’s Country leads Julian Higgins, who also co-wrote the film along with Shay Ogbonna. In addition to Newton and White, the cast of the film included Jeremy Bobb, Joris Yarsky, Kai Lennoxas well as Tanaya Beatty. The project is executive produced by Jason Beck and Anthony Ciardelli. Film produced Miranda Bailey, Haley BernardJJulian Higginsas well as Amanda Marshall. IFC Films is distributing the film, which is 102 minutes long.

Sandra politely but firmly rejects them - her experience tells her that this is not the type of man who can be freely welcomed into her world. But they don’t take no for an answer, and Sandra soon finds herself embroiled in a escalating battle of wills that puts her most treasured values to the test.
