Predator franchise continued to release at least one new movie every ten years or so, but most fans would probably agree that original 1987 film starring everyone’s favorite Austrian Arnold Schwarzenegger by far the strongest party. Predator 2 as well as Predators were decent enough, but two Alien vs. Predator the films were more like cheap fan service than actual filmmaking. Not to mention 2018 Predator was considered something of a misfire by fans and critics alike, as the convoluted plot gave the film the impression that it was trying to be a superhero movie rather than a horror movie like the original. Regardless of their varying quality, it seems fair to say that no subsequent film has been able to capture the intrigue and entertainment value of the original.
“Original” might be the key word the series needs to hear, and it looks like a breath of fresh air is finally decorating the franchise in the form of the cleverly named Mining. The upcoming film is billed as a prequel set long before the events of the first film and tells the story of the very first Predator to visit Earth. Although the project was shrouded in secrecy according to the director Dan TrachtenbergWishes, slowly and surely information about the movie is leaking into the news, so here’s everything we know about Mining.

Basically, the short 40-second teasers are all of a young Native American woman running out of the woods before meeting a fellow Comanche who forces her to take cover. The two stare into an empty forest before the iconic three-point reticle appears on one of their heads. Following this, the trailer teases a tense confrontation between the protagonist Naru and the unseen Yautja. That’s all. A full-length trailer for the film was released in June 2022, featuring many more details, including a look at the Predator.
When and where is the prey released?
The First Hunt will officially begin on August 5, 2022, and will be the first feature film in the history of the franchise. released exclusively on streaming. Even though Disney is now Predator the franchise’s new parent, skinning a human and removing a skull is probably too much for a Disney+ family. So instead Mining will make its home on Disney and Fox’s more adult-oriented service, Hulu.
Will Prey be released in theaters?
No release plans yet Mining in theaters. Although 20th Century Studios is behind the production of the film, Mining was officially labeled “Hulu Original”. This means that the film will be released exclusively on the Hulu platform, making it unlikely to hit the screens.
What is the early reaction to prey?
In anticipation of the release of the film, a special screening of the film was held at the Collider. Mining in San Diego Comic-Con 2022. And how was it received, you ask?
Surprisingly good! Movie earned standing ovation on screening. After that, the reaction on the Internet called the film one of the best Predator movies more.
What is Prey about and when is it installed?
Mining beret Predator IP and takes it to a whole new time period, three hundred years in fact, long before the events of the original movie. Specifically, the film is set in pre-colonial America, where a young Comanche hunter named Naru hunts down a mysterious threat that threatens her people.
Little does Naru know that the threat is an extremely intelligent and technologically advanced extraterrestrial being called the Yautja, better known to the masses as the Predator, who hunts the galaxy’s most dangerous creatures for fun. This has also been confirmed by the manufacturer. John Davis as the first time an iconic species made the planet Earth its personal hunting ground, some three centuries before one such Predator faced off against a motley group of soldiers in Central America.
Who’s doing the loot?
In spite of recent controversy between original authors Predator cinema and 20th Century’s new parent company, Walt Disney, the studio formerly known as Fox is still the production giant behind Mining (and yes, the idea that Mickey Mouse now owns Predator never stops being weird).
As mentioned above, Dan Trachtenberg, best known for his work on the critically acclaimed thriller, is in the director’s chair. 10 Cloverfield Lane. The sequel to the surprise hit was a feature-length directorial debut that made Trachtenberg’s name known as a director to watch closely, and although he has since worked on major television projects including Black mirror as well as boys, Mining would be his first feature film in six years. Trachtenberg was also quoted saying that he was “very sad that what we have in store for you to discover this film will no longer happen” after the film’s plot was leaked. This is probably an allusion to a unique marketing campaign like the one 10 Cloverfield Lane was, and while it’s a shame the surprise had to be spoiled, the director’s involvement is still enough to get excited.
In addition to the director’s chair, the film crew includes Patrick Eison as a screenwriter, having previously written lost pines as well as Jack Ryan. The Board of Producers consists of John Davis (Predator), Marty P. Ewing (it), John Fox (Game night), Lawrence Gordon (Predator), Jane Myers (Monsters of God), as well as Mark Toberoff (fantasy island). An impressive team is complemented by an operator Jeff Cutter (10 Cloverfield Lane), editor Claudia Costello (Credo), and art director Kara Lindstrom (Den of thieves).
Who is in Prey?
Lead cast starring Naru Amber Half Thunderbest known for her role as Kerry Loudermilk in Legion. She was joined by seemingly few actors. Dane DiLiegro, Stephanie Mathias, Stormy Kippas well as Dakota Beavers.
Fans may notice that most of the cast is of Native American origin, which was most likely taken in order to bring as much authenticity to the setting as possible and accurately portray the Comanche characters. In the trailer’s description, producer Jane Myers is cited as the main reason for getting the roles right, as she herself is a member of the Comanche Nation. Obviously, the film’s portrayal of real culture won’t be truly tested until it’s finally released, but for now, all signs point in the right direction and we hope the film will introduce beloved characters from a community that deserves so much more. Representation in the world of cinema. By the way, Mining will be first feature film broadcast with Comanche subtitles.
