Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki met with EU Commissioner for the Internal Market Thierry Breton in Nowa Demba. The meeting was also attended by the head of the Ministry of National Defense, Mariusz Blaszczak. The negotiations concerned the joint purchase of ammunition by the EU countries and the increase in the production capacity of the Polish defense industry.

The main topic of negotiations between the head of the Ministry of National Defense Mariusz Blashak and Commissioner Thierry Breton was assistance to Ukraine in the context of the supply of ammunition. Last week, 17 countries, including Poland, signed a joint procurement agreement.

The meeting took place in Zakłady Metalowe Dezamet.

The meeting took place at Zakłady Metalowe Dezamet SA, which is part of the Capital Group of the Polish Arms Group. The company specializes in military products. It mainly produces various types of artillery, mortar and grenade launcher ammunition. The most important products of the company are: 155 mm artillery ammunition used, among others, in the CRAB howitzer, 120 mm mortar ammunition used by RAK self-propelled mortars, and 60 mm mortar ammunition.

The company employs almost 700 people and is one of the largest employers in Subcarpathia.

Prime Minister announces increase in arms production

The choice of location is not accidental, it was supposed to show that we have highly specialized factories in Poland capable of producing modern weapons.

– We have excellent competencies in the production of weapons and ammunition. I am glad that with European money - after consultation with Commissioner Thierry Breton - we will be able to increase this production. This is an increase in security, the use of European funds, - stressed Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

300 million zloty for the supply of weapons to Ukraine

A few days ago, Prime Minister Morawiecki announced that Poland would receive compensation for the transferred weapons. Now the head of government has confirmed that the decision on compensation has already been made.

“The efforts of Poland in the field of armaments and support for Ukraine were highly appreciated in Brussels. Today’s visit of Commissioner Thierry Breton to our country is a confirmation of the success of Polish diplomacy and the conclusions of the EU Council summit that ended on Friday, the Prime Minister wrote on Facebook.

In his speech, the head of government stressed that Poland would soon receive 300 million euros as compensation for donated weapons. The money will be spent on the purchase of “better” weapons than the one Ukraine received. “This is a very successful exchange,” he added.
