Poland purchased and delivered to Ukraine another batch of Starlink system receivers from SpaceX. Prime Ministers Denys Shmygal and Mateusz Morawiecki exchanged courtesies.
We are grateful to the Poles, the government and Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki for their immediate assistance. We stay in touch and cooperate even in the most difficult times. Thank you, friends,” Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmygal wrote.
This entry concerns the next, third delivery of receivers for the Starlink satellite Internet system. It is manufactured by Elon Musk’s SpaceX. Poland systematically finances the purchase and transportation of this type of equipment to Ukraine. Previously, PKN Orlen also provided assistance.
The end of the year is not the end of Polish aid to Ukraine. We all hope that 2023 will be a year of victory and peace,” wrote his Polish counterpart Mateusz Morawiecki in response to the post of Prime Minister of Ukraine.
Starlinks in stamina points
The receivers of the Starlink system will be transferred to the so-called “Endurance Points” - places organized throughout the country where Ukrainians can come to charge their phones, warm up or just use the Internet. We wrote about one of these places in our report from Bukovel.
Prime Minister Denys Shmygal also wrote that some of the devices would also be sent to hospitals and first-aid posts, as well as to the energy industry, which has been hit hard by Russian missile and drone attacks.
Starlink, or space internet
Starlink is an ambitious project by Elon Musk, behind which, in addition to the loud-sounding vision of providing Internet to all corners of the world, there is also a lot of money.
Ultimately, the Starlink system should be made up of more than 12,000 satellites that link to each other to create two artificial constellations. One of them will consist of 4409, the other of 7518 Starlink satellites. They will circle the Earth at altitudes of 340, 550 and 1150 km. The first group of spacecraft was delivered to Earth orbit in May 2019. There are now more than a thousand of them circling over our heads.
