Electric Mercedes from Jaworzno
The new plant will be built next to the existing Mercedes plant in Jaworzno, where the group manufactures engines and batteries. However, the newest installation will be adapted for completely different tasks. As it turns out, the company intends to produce electric vans in Poland.
The agreement on the construction of the first Mercedes car plant in Poland was signed by representatives of the concern with the Polish government. This is a record investment in the Polish automotive industry. Previously, the most expensive factories belonged to Volkswagen, which built a complex in Wrzesna for PLN 3.8 billion and Stellantis in Gliwice for PLN 1.4 billion.
modern vans
Mercedes intends to produce electric vans based on the latest VAN.EA platform in Jaworzno, Dziennik.pl emphasizes. In the future, production for the American brand Rivian is also planned. The new investment is part of a strategy in which Mercedes is planning a full transition to electric vehicles.
– We are reorganizing our European production network. The inclusion of a completely new plant using the existing Mercedes-Benz plant in Central and Eastern Europe will help us ensure the long-term competitiveness of our plants in Germany and enable Mercedes-Benz vans to successfully enter the era of electric vehicles. said Matthias Geisen, head of Mercedes-Benz Vans, quoted by Dziennik.pl.
