The Windmill Act, also known as the 10H Act, is one of the inflammatory elements in the ruling coalition. The bill has been ready since July, but the Seimas has not yet voted for it. There is a chance it will change.

There is a chance that the Saeima will consider the wind farm bill, also known as Law 10H, which has been delayed for a long time. The latter name comes from the distance at which windmills can currently be placed from nearby buildings. That’s ten times the height, making it nearly impossible to place the new turbine on land.

Seimas to consider bill on wind farm

The government decided to amend the law in such a way as to promote the development of this energy industry. Interestingly, this caused friction not only within the coalition (Polish Solidarna was supposed to counteract it), but also within the Law and Justice club itself. Minister of Development and Technology Waldemar Bud was asked by Polsat News about the possibility of returning to work on the act. It was his ministry that prepared the initial provisions of the amendment.

– We are increasing the production of electricity from renewable energy sources. We have gigantic growth when it comes to windmills and photovoltaics. We have prepared a draft in our ministry (amendments to Law 10N - editor’s note), the Ministry of Climate has improved it a bit and is now waiting for the decision of the Seimas. Please remember when it all happened - said Minister Waldemar Buda, noting that the law was submitted to the Saeima at a time of the biggest upheavals in the energy market, when the government was working on protection programs.

The minister pointed out that the Saeima should consider the bill at the next or next session. Recall that the deputies of the European Parliament will meet on Wednesday, November 30, and will work for three days.

Act 10N. “There are many people in the government who understand”

We recently asked a representative of Greenpeace Polska about the delay in working on an act that pointed to intra-party brawls over the amendment.

- The fact that this amendment appeared at all indicates that there are many people in the government who understand that we need this energy. It was blocked by ideological opponents of such solutions, who built their political capital on the support of a small group of disillusioned people. It is worth mentioning here the MEP Anna Zalevska, who traveled from city to city and told the story of how she did not want to be killed by a broken windmill blade. Now we are all victims of this populism, because the wind in the mixture makes it not only cleaner, but also cheaper. said Pawel Szypulski, program director at Greenpeace Polska, in an interview with Wprost.
