Driving a car that has not been cleared of snow can result in a fine of up to 3,000 rubles. zloty. The obligation to clear snow stems from concern for general safety and should therefore not be ignored.
Winter means certain duties for drivers. Before starting the journey, they must clear the car of snow. This is not an offer, but a demand: driving a car that has not been cleared of snow is punishable by a fine of up to PLN 3,000. Do not facilitate snow removal by starting the engine - this is also punishable by a fine. This is due to concern for the environment and the desire to reduce exhaust emissions. In accordance with Article 60, paragraph 2 of the SDA, for parking a car in a built-up area with the engine running for more than one minute, a fine of up to PLN 300 is imposed.
Car snow removal. Don’t forget your license plate
There is no predetermined penalty for driving a car that is not cleared of snow. Police will judge an unsnowed license plate differently than driving with ice on the roof. Snow removal is necessary for safety reasons. Ice or thick snow from the roof can fall off while driving and hit the car behind you, making it difficult to see.
- The priority is indeed the field of view and visibility of the driver, but when it comes to larger vehicles, you need to be aware that snow falling from the roof may not result in a ticket, but can lead to injury, and then the driver can be sued, - said Chief Commissioner Robert Opas of the Traffic Directorate of the Police Headquarters. “Remember not to remove snow from the car while the engine is running because that is also against the law,” he added. Such an offense is punishable by a fine of up to PLN 300.
When clearing snow, the driver should try to remove snow from the entire vehicle. Particular attention is paid to headlights, mirrors and license plates, which must be perfectly visible regardless of weather conditions.
