Chief Commissioner Robert Opas of the Traffic Directorate of the Police Headquarters provided information on police statistics to the Polish Press Agency.

In 2022, there were fewer deaths and injuries. A police officer reported that “1,000 people died in accidents in 2022. 896 people. Compared to 2020, when 2,000 people died. 491 people, there was a decrease of 595 people (-23.9%), while 2000 people died in 2021. 245 people, there was a reduction of 349 people (-15.5%).”
Fewer injured, young people are still the most dangerous
The number of wounded also decreased. “In 2022, 24,000 people were injured in road traffic accidents. 743 people. Compared to 2020, the number of victims decreased by 1,000 people. 720 (-6.5%). Compared to 2021, this number has decreased by 1,000 people. 672 people (-6.3 percent),” Superintendent Robert Opas said.
Drivers are responsible for 90.9 percent of road accidents in 2022. Again, young drivers have the highest accident rate per 10,000 people. Population. Young drivers (aged 18-24) make up 15.8%. accidents in 2022 that occurred due to the fault of vehicle drivers.
