Two men wanted to prevent a 23-year-old man from driving while intoxicated. He decided to run away from them. He chose the “ideal” location: the police station.

The policemen saw a lot, but, as they confess, they did not see. The 23-year-old man first told the duty officer on the phone that someone was following him through the streets of Grudziadz, and then he himself came to the police station to ask for help. As it turned out, the man was drunk, and the two men who followed him were only trying to get him out of control. Now the driver will be held responsible for his irresponsible behavior.

It was around 20:00 when a police officer in Grudziadz received a phone call from a man who was supposed to be running away from people in two other cars. According to the applicant, someone wanted to stop him and harm him. Soon after, he appeared at the police station, where he hoped for help.

“At the same time, the men mentioned above appeared, the drivers of the two cars following him, who, as it turned out, wanted to stop the applicant’s car, since his driving style indicated that he could be in a state of alcoholic intoxication,” reports young Aspid. Lukasz Kowalczyk from the Grudziadz police.

The traffic police officers who dealt with this case immediately smelled alcohol from a 23-year-old resident of the Stargard district, and therefore checked his sobriety. A breathalyzer test showed almost 2 ppm in the man’s body. Also, he didn’t have a driver’s license.

The case will go to court

Now the case will be considered by the Georgian court. Drunk driving is punishable by imprisonment for up to 2 years. In addition, driving without a license is punishable by a fine of at least PLN 1,500 and imprisonment for at least six months.

“The position of two men, as it turned out, brothers, who, having seen the danger posed by a drunk driver on the road, deserves praise, tried to prevent him from continuing his journey,” says the younger asp. Lukasz Kowalczyk.
